Need to see more changes

Guys, it is good that cosmetic changes are happening, but we need standards fir certain things. There is The Purple Lounge and Liquid the Lounge for night life, but they need to know which crowd to entertain. Looking over the Facebook for Liquid and Purple, they had some guys who looked like cartoons. Especially in liquid a guy wearing "I F*** on the firt date". The lounges need to hire proper bartenders with licenses, good bouncers, and make sure they open to the college and young professional (23-30) age group. Can't have gawars sitting there and ruining the image of Patna.

Great to see that everyone is demanding more than just the cosmetic changes. I also agree that these changes were necessary to start with for Nitish(1st Term). But now we are looking for something much more bigger. I am hopeful that Nitish Kumar has focused on the power sector in his second term and will surely have something in store for us.
We Patnaites never compare Patna with any other city of India but always with the biggies like Delhi, Bangalore and Pune etc. and that shows our expectation from our government.
If we talk about infrastructural changes that Patna has seen over last few years, it would be huge. So many flyovers and modern buildings dot its landscape. But the people are still semi urbanised at heart in comparison to the other capital cities hence mannerism/habits are still rustic. But then if you compare Delhi with Mumbai you will find similar differences, such as the clubs of Delhi are pretty rustic (read Hariyanvi) which Mumbai is definitely not.

Thank you so much,Showman-NCR.....im delighted at the way you have explained almost everything in your small post above...

Yes,You"re true in ur statement when u say that whenever we expect Patna to be @ par with the Bigger Metros,it shows How much We Love our City and desperately want it 2 be on the same league as other modern metros...

while immediately thereafter, you have also told a big part of the truth candidly that while Patna has seen immense Infrastructural changes over the last 5-6 yrs,Patnaites also need 2 adapt fast to the Metro or Big City Culture and need2 change their manners and behaviour...even this 1 has improved in recent years but improvements are coming a bit too slow...

and yes,,almost the same differences exist between Our capital Delhi and some other metros as well, most notably bangalore and/or Mumbai...

I witnessed 2 such incidents in NCR yesterday..I had2 virtually scold a 20 year old haryaaanvi student as he and his frnds were not willing 2 offer even the reserved ladies seat for an over7 months Pregnant lady,,in a Jam packed Delhi Metro Coach going2 gurgaon...

and 1 of My friends had his New Hyundai I10 taillight and rear windscreen smashed by hudlooms in the heart of Noida, over a minor scuffle resulting from a small scratch on their Fiat Linea...yards away from the So called swanky sector18..

so its not only about the place, its more about the people and the behaviour or manners they show as well....

a big token of thanx 2 donadarsh for the acknowledgement and the praise you showered on the 2-3 of us in your post dated 4th dec...

while thanking you from the core of my heart,i must point out that please dont feel guilty because you have spoken or written nothing wrong or improper in that post of yours..infact,you wrote it the correct way...

while discussing Patna and Projects in patna,we need not concentrate only on the Realty Sector...Only Real estate projects dont make any city happening or liveable,,isnt it??

A host of services, things and most importantly,The Residents and their Mannerisms they show2 others also are crucial in Forming a Good image of any place outside...We have2 live and improve in totality,,and this includes Modern & organised Retail avenues like Malls,Multiplexes,Food and beverage biggies as well...

Real estate To Makaano(Flats included)ko hi kehte hain..
Unme rehne waale log(Hum Log) unhe Ghar banaate hain...

well,a sincere bouquet of thanks again to you sir(showman_ncr)....actually i feel strongly that Criticism is helpful in communicating gaps to government and authorities about the various developments and projects,,but only criticising government and related agencies is not gonna serve any constructive purpose...

The government right now is 1 of the Best that any Indian state has, since a long time...and the govt is doing its bit in improving living conditions in our city and state as well,,...yes,there can be shortcomings(Remember,No1 is perfect...and rome was not built in a day)...but we should also ponder over our little bit in and towards development also....

Together we can,,and we will make a difference.....

thank you showman_ncr,,,it indeed is a nice and welcome step from The zoo authorities....I think The Automatic gates will serve their purpose..and even if it doesnt serve the purposes fully,,It is definitely adding to the Looks cum Feel Quotient of Our Beloved Zoo(feeling nostalgic as my last trip to the zoo was abt 10 years back,,shall plan a trip to the zoo soon)...i have always heard this remark from many ppl that Patna and its various amazing landmarks are not that high on the Technology quotient...so its good that our landmarks are becoming swankier and more technology inclusive...

thanx a tonne 4 this update...you have inspired me to post some pics that i had taken during my chhath trip2 Patna as well...I was not getting time2 share some prominent ones due2 work related commitments,,but shall do them now as soon as possible...

Thanks sensiblerv, Yes it was a visit to the zoo after 17 yrs for me as well. I could observe the “Changes for Good” in the Zoo and I also value the aesthetics of a place when you solely visit there for being close to nature. All the changes that sometime are termed as ‘cosmetic’ are actually the prosperity indicators. If Patna (or Bihar for the matter of fact) is improving aesthetically, it means it is developing and getting back on the track.
Visit any country in the world and its sense of beautifying their cities will give you clear indication of how developed and prosperous they are. I sometime do not understand how people want to ignore the aesthetics of a place? In Patna we have not even started yet and you can hear the criticism flowing in from all corners stating that these cosmetic changes are short living? Come on.. grow up guys, we have to be the best. Nature has given us a lot of natural vegetation and a vast fertile land irrigated by mighty rivers such as Ganga, Kosi etc. So let us try and make our city for everyone else to envy.

If Patna can be on par with Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad, that will be great. Mainly, we need more metropolitan cities in India so that people can live and work where they want to and balanced regional development can take place. Cities are engines of development; so investment in Patna is a must. Balanced development cannot happen unless cities like Patna become counterparts to Surat or Gurgaon. That will only happen if both government AND private sector invest. So for every new showroom, you need concretisation of major roads. (All roads is too expensive). As I have said before and will not tire of saying, government policies are actually key in development of any place, more than the people there. Once any government places emphasis on the right things, and has the right policies, growth will take place. Bihar government should definitely beautify the city but along with that massive infrastructure development is also needed. Not happening as yet. But yes, city planners should dream of developing Patna as an international city.

Absolutely right Cosmicbliss... Unless we demand more and more, the government will not get out of its cocoon to fulfill them. I(and many like me) are out of our beloved state for quite some time now (close to some 20 years) and that is just because it lacks the necessary infracture to accomodate or retain the vast Human Resource it produces. The migration has been at all the levels from construction labourers to IT Pros. We certainly need a lot of private investment as well as huge public (read Govt.) spendings to get the jammed wheel going. I strongly believe that right now what Bihar needs is to have a positive branding (which few people percieve incorrectly and term it Media Management of Nitish Kumar) so that we are able to attaract investment. We need Power sector investment that will in turn attract other investors towards Bihar. Patna has a big role to play and I am sure it will join the league of big Metros in few years.

Im sorry but I beg to differ from both of you, with due respect...I have full faith in what u have mentioned above, but that is true only to a certain extent sirs...

It"s not as if the government is not trying to provide better amenities to people,,new things, new schemes are being launched 4 benefit of the people,,but at many places and points,it looks as if the people are not ready2 mend their ways and not ready2 improve at all...

Elaborating further-i drove around the city yesterday, from St Michael"s school to Vasundhara metro Mall(Rajapur Pul)and then further 2 ashok rajpath..The government had painstakingly increased the condition and width, both,of this very important road(as it goes till danapur from patna city)and had got footpaths constructed 4 people..But you all will be shocked2 see the present condition of the footpaths today, especially from Kurji Pul to about rajapur pul stretch...They are all lined up with garbage and trash of all sorts...
Now isnt it the responsibility of people to care4 and preserve the basic amenities govt has given them??The previous governement never cared2 look after this important road in its times(i know this as i"ve suffered while going2 and back from school for a full 12years,the condition of the road was pathetic till 2005)But now The Basic amenities have been given, but the people are still living in the bygone era...

and i must add that it"s not as if PMC trucks and vans dont collect and move garbage out of these places, they do it daily..bUt immediately in no time, people litter the same places all over again, even more horrifyingly...

So it"s not that only the govt needs2 go on providing more and more amenities 2 people,...even the people need2 realise that they need 2 change their bad habits and develop better civic sense...

CM stadium pledge - Govt focuses on sportspersons, plans to demolish Moinul Haque for an international facility

The residents of the state capital can boast of a stadium that would host international cricket matches.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said Moinul Haque Stadium at Rajendra Nagar would be demolished and a new facility of international standard would come up in its place to pave way for holding international cricket matches.
The structure of the Moinul Haque Stadium was old and its capacity to accommodate spectators limited, Nitish said while inaugurating BN Mullik 61st All India Police Football Championship.
“A stadium of international standard is a long cherished dream of the people. I expect the demand will not be repeated at the time of presentation of the report card on the government’s performance next year,” he added.
The chief minister said though there is a sports complex at Kankerbagh and a stadium (Mithilesh Stadium) on the BMP campus in Patna, the facilities cannot host mega sports events. “It is a fact that sports activities have increased in the state in the past few years. But there is a need to create a conducive atmosphere and develop infrastructure for promoting sporting activities,” Nitish said.
The chief minister added that his government was formulating a new policy on sports to employ sportspersons of national and international repute in the police department.
“The government is in favour of making direct recruitment of sportspersons, who have won medals in national and international championships in the police department. The policy will come into effect before March 2013 when the state police department would host the national athletics championship for the securitymen” he said.
Nitish asked art, culture and youth affairs minister Sukhada Pandey to present a proposal to the government for setting up a separate institute to look after sporting activities. “I assure you there will be no dearth of money,” Nitish said, adding that he considered it a positive step when he was confronted with people’s demand for setting up stadium and sports complexes during his yatras.
