ROXAS CITY, Capiz
, Dec. 12 (PIA6) – The product expo and garden show of the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs as well as cutflower growers in Capiz was able to net nearly P900,000.

Information Officer Ken Queenie Cuñada of the Capiz Department of Trade and Industry disclosed that the recent four-day Capiz Product Expo posted a gross sales of P642,356.50, with furniture and other crafts accounting for 66 percent of the total sales.

In addition, she said that the week-long Capiz Multi-Purpose Cooperative Garden Show was able to generate P234,927 sales.

She added that the food and wellness group products had 44 percent of the total gross sales during the event.

Among this year’s top earners are Kreyativo Handicraft, Grace 88 Shellcraft, Giner Pottery, Akoni Food Products, and Asia-Pacific Aqua Marine, Inc. (APAMI), she said

The expo was an explosion of palate and palette as 130 new products, product lines and designs were launched to the market for the first time.

Aside from the product expo, Cuñada said that there was also a garden show for the cutflower and ornamental plant growers with 13 exhibitors participated in said show.
On the other hand, Capiz DTI Director Ermelinda Pollentes revealed that the Capiz MPC is now on its 7th year of continued cutfoliage export to Japan.

Pollentes stressed that based on DTI record, the export sales of the cooperative this year alone reached $124,324.85.

She is confident that with the proactive effort of the provincial and city governments, including the Joint Chamber of Commerce, in creating and promoting an enabling business environment here, the province’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council and the will be another banner year for the Capiz MSMEs.

The Capiz Product Expo and Garden Show with a theme “Unity in Diversity” were among this year’s activities for the Sinadya sa Halaran Festival in Capiz.

The event highlighted the province’s rich and diverse local resources as well as its creative, skillful and resourceful entrepreneurs.

BFP to recognize firefighting partners

Pia Capiz Infocen on Wednesday, December 12, 2012

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 12 (PIA6) – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Capiz will give recognition to various offices and institutions which have been supportive to the fire fighting campaign on Dec. 14 at the Roxas City Fire Station.

The activity is in line with the 39th Fire Service Recognition Day.

BFP – Roxas City Public Information Officer FO2 Marlon Garbo said that the Day will include a motorcade, thanksgiving mass and a program which will highlight on the awarding ceremony.

Outstanding firemen in the province will also be recognized during the program, he added.

“There will be also a fire olympics among firemen on Dec. 17 to 19,” Garbo stressed, noting that the participants will come from various local fire stations in the province.

The annual event of the BFP intends to pay homage to the 10 firefighters who lost their lives in Rockwell Power Plant fire incident on Dec. 14, 1973 by giving awards and commendations to deserving firefighters and BFP partners.

FSR also serves as a tool to distinguish the worthy contributions of firefighters in the community not just in fire suppression but also in emergency and rescue operations. (PIA Alex)

sino may pics sang Hopevale sa Tapaz? memorial ya ata next week..

Quote:
The Hopevale Martyrs were Christian martyrs who died during the World War II in the present day Hopevale, Aglinab, Tapaz, Capiz, Philippines. The martyrs were Jeanie Clare Adams, Prof. James Howard Clovell, Charma Moore Clovell, Dorothy Antoinette Dowell, Signe Amelia Erikson, Dr. Frederick Willer-Meyer, Ruth Schatch Meyer, Dr. Francis Howard Rose, Gertrude Coombs Rose, Rev. Erle Frederich Rounds, Louise Cummings Rounds, and Erle Douglas. Despite the order that these Americans should go home because of the war, they refused to leave their mission and eventually offered their lives when they were caught by the enemies.

During the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, the eleven American Baptist missionaries refused to surrender to the Japanese troops. The martyrs took refuge in the mountains of Barrio Katipunan, Tapaz, Capiz. They hid in the forest they call "Hopevale" with the help of their Filipino friends.

On December 19, 1943, Hopevale fell into Japanese hands. The martyrs begged to free the Filipino captives and instead offered themselves as ransom. At the dawn of December 20, 1943, the missionaries asked to be allowed to pray and, an hour later, they told their Japanese captors they were ready to die. The adults were beheaded and the children were bayoneted.
