They sent me one a while ago promising a press release in February. I also contacted one of Chelmer's "main guys" and while he admitted he couldn't disclose details, he said the operation was going positively and they were committed to delivering it

Demolishing that concrete mess that is on the site would do for starters

The only dissapointment is that something this tall isn't being built closer to Beetham tower, we need a coherent mid-high rise cluster - only asking for 3 or 4 :P

Any info on the start date? I know March was mentioned but would love an update on timescales.

Dear Chelmer,
Please can you provide us with an actual finished product, unlike other developers such as BSC and Inacity, who just gave us some big holes and half-built eyesores. Yours sincerely, The residents of Greater Manchester.

Timing:
Let's assume the basics are in place: Planning - yes Operator - we think so(?) - yes Funding - not sure Then let's estimate the rest - caveat: no detailed knowledge of the site or where they're up to. Detailed M&E design - will be doing this now but could be another x months, notoriously time consuming. Demolition of the existing concrete frame and site clearance - minimum 2 months. Note they could have (but haven't yet) started this had they been in a hurry. They have PP for surface car parking - a decent source of income whilst the cash is pouring out on design work. Then groundworks could be another 2 months. They may be parallel tracking some of this but you'd have to be on the inside to know if they are or not. All in all I'd be pleasantly surprised if they could get something out of the ground and rising by the end of the 3rd quarter of this year. |
