'Aluminium panels' sounds less offensive then 'bright blue, age enhancing' panels (which to me is more truthful). Lets hope they've decided to scrap the blue idea rather then just making the new renovations sound appealing to local residents...

They did a small sample section and it's more a dark grey them blue.

Two more photos (through dirty glass!) showing the new overlay window frames and vents going in.

They've still got to put the 'copper effect' panels around the new windows yet, should look very smart.

Will they remove the old inner windows once the new ones are weathertight?

Still looks horrible. Can't they just paint all the concrete white for a fraction of the cost?

That this project isn't designed to make the building look nicer to the likes of us.
It is to
a) Prevent further deterioration of the concrete, which is presenting a hazard to people, by falling off the building.
and
b) To improved the energy efficiency of the building.

Painting the concrete white does neither of those things. Indeed, paint requires more future maintenance than just a quick and cheap sandblast does.

Wow, white Guy's Tower looks way better. Well done! I liked it. Even though it'd never been coloured like this.

Painting Guy's Tower white makes it look like a hospital.

So...I'm sure if we painted you white, you'd look like a big mint.

Taken from the 28th floor.

Looks like good quality glazing, nice and flat.

Stick out a bit though, will this be adjusted to make them blend in more?

They will be framed to make them flush, you can just about see this (the panels still have a protective covers on) on the floor below.

The top two rows of windows are nearing completion on the east side. From a distance it certainly looks a lot neater and more uniform. The lighter coloured frame under the windows really helps to soften the appearance.
