Think we may be terminating at Victoria due to graffiti being on the tram.

Continuing to Shaw now, tram to be taken out of service up there. Presumably mashing use of the spare tram up there.
Sitting behind drivers can so can hear his discussion with control room

The mayor looked really peed off, he just shouted 'O yeah' and the door of the returning tram closed.

Went into service with graffiti, driver was called at Trafford Bar, someone had spotted it at OT depot, he checked at SPS and discussed what to do with the control room as far as Victoria. Don't think it went back to Manchester in service.

As for the signage, if they have adopted 'Shaw and Crompton' on the destination blinds and stop signs then the SPS and other directional messages would better read "...& Shaw and Crompton". Personally, I think Shaw & Crompton looks better. Last edited by madferret; December 16th, 2012 at 12:49 PM. |

I didn't realise the bay platform continued a tram length on as a siding, for that is where 3035 stands "Not in Service" and "see tram front is on Shaw's PIDS.

Tan tan tara! Zing! Boom!
The Town Crier rang his Bell and cried : “Make way for the first ever pear-shaped banana 3001 coming up the slope from Old Trafford depot into Trafford Bar, displaying the first ever journey to Shaw & Crompton . . . “ ![]() Well I don’t know, you cut short your Saturday night, you’re into your jim-jams and horlicks by 11 pm, and up and away to Trafford Bar at 5 am on a Sunday just to get a pic of the first ever departure, and what do you get? - the driver doesn’t know how to set the destination for Shaw (even though in the cab with him is a very important French gentleman who is the supreme Chargé d’Affaires, not only of RATP but of Metrolink itself!) - until someone gets on at Queen’s Road to show him how to do it, that’s what!! Anyway, at least we managed to get the first ever ticket, and the destination was sorted after that :- ![]() By the time we got to Derker Freel was smiling! :- ![]() The new system for ‘via’ indications is: # Northbound, leaves St Werburgh’s showing Shaw via Oldham At Mumps, this changes to Shaw simpliciter. # Southbound, leaves Shaw showing St Werburgh’s Road via Oldham At Mumps, this changes to St Werburgh’s Road via Victoria At Victoria, this changes to St Werburgh’s Road Two changes on the one journey – impressive! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome one and all at last! - it's been a long 3 + years coming . . . ![]() Decent breakfast in the Shay Wake about 9am - amazing how many people are wrapping themselves around pints of lager and vodka & coke at that time on a Sunday morning!! more later, going back to bed for now!! . . .

There is sooo much I want to report! But I don't want to spam the thread. Sorry if I am. I'll just say for now that I was right on one count: via Oldham does indeed become Via Victoria and vanishes altogether the other way. I'm shaking my head at "This is a Shaw service, the next stop will be Shaw and Crompton, where this service terminates.

Great day for it, warm and sunny, loads of people everywhere. Great to see all network maps, ticket machines, displays and announcements up to date and lots of normal non-enthusiast people getting on and off at Derker and here at Shaw am Persand. That last stretch in open country with a view out the front is lovely. Big station feel at the end, with the bay platform and 3 spare bananas waiting. Congrats to the early risers, I'm just glad to be here to see it working!
