In theory no, but extra trams are needed for the Droylsden line and I believe that these are starting to be made ready now. So for the next few weeks we may see more trams available than are actually needed.

Been asked on twitter why there is the 15mph speed limit inbound, just north of Abrham Moss, anyone know?

The Shaw trams are now quite busy, from Shaw.
Also, they have quite a lot of time to catch up, been at least 10 mins.

Oh, this is good. 3041 is on ORL duties... And my first shaw tram. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that new tram smell!
Also, "This is a Shaw service... Is very Lound and VERY deep!!" they seem to have replied recorded "the next stop will be" too. Wonder if it's the same for Werburgh's... Have you all but LNGCATS gone comatose due to lack of sleep?

Depots certainly have room for more than 94 trams.

I'm guessing fairly high as short term ORL/SML ridership is good with reports of busy trams. I suspect they will find a way to increase the order. Perhaps Whitehall should jump on the bandwagon and offer to fund done alongside TfGM, least that way they can say they are supporting growth and new transport in the north.

Yes, one certainly gets the impression that the decline in the use of the private car is accelerating downhill fast, what with the astronomical insurance and fuel prices (never mind the Chancellor's 3p refund) on top of the recession.
And virtually all public transport is getting full to the brim during peak times as it is. Nothing scientific to base this on, but my gut feeling is that by the time the Airport & 2CC are open, Metrolink is likely to be needing double units on virtually all services . . .? ![]()

Personally I'd have thought the PA would be something to be checked before a vehicle is taken out in service (though accept it might break later on in the day and may also be 'deferable').

It don't look weird that Metrolink site now say Shaw & Crompton on latest service.

Its been like that for years shrimper. I've been retired for over 5years and even then when working in the city we would start early and finish early to beat the traffic.
I had to drive in from Southport and the traffic started to build on the M6 and get progressively worse as you drove along the 62 and Regent Road was just a nightmare. Back on topic great to see a little bit more added to the system. |

I was under the impression that you'd have to stop, call control, check everything was okay and then go through some lengthy procedure to release the brakes again - especially if the driver didn't apply them. The tram just went, like everything was OK and it had been a routine stop.

Currently sat at Victoria on a Shaw bound service. Failed tram at Victoria. Not sure which tram...
Edit: I thought the tram I was on (3010) was the last service, however I checked at Newton Heath on the PID and there was another right behind us. Sure enough, the PID's were right, I got off at Freehold and before I could reach the bottom of the steps, another tram was arriving onto the platform. The only details of it's number that I could locate were that it had none on the black bit under the side-cab windows. Not sure if this could have been the new 3060 that entered service today?
