In this order, Droylsden, Rochdale, East Didsbury.

That is all.

Anyone want to dig out the 2012 version?

...Manchester will gain more southerners!

(speaking as a southerner who has lived up here for 18 years)

On a more upbeat note.

Details of Project Tomorrow will be announced. Etihad stadium expansion will be announced. Numerous other proposals bubbling along in the background will either start or be announced.

I for one can't wait for 2013. Think it's going to be a great year for proposals and developments in Manchester

HS2 station sites released, with local authorities making moves to ensure that these are integrated with updated plans for those areas and the transport that serves them.

We'll see plans for the integration of the Theatre Royal and the Radisson, although I'd forsee planning being difficult on that score.

2 St Peter's Square will be approved with much gnashing of teeth.

So like Cats, any one fancy a revival?

I most day, I was spot on

Interesting hire many years TMS has been frustrating us fit now!

I honestly don't expect it to be fully working before 2016 now, for 2CC and airport.

  1. We won't get any tower proposals taller than 100m.
    (River Street!)
  2. 17NWS will complete on time; some on here will be very critical of the final cladding but most of us will be happy.
(not a very ambitious prediction at all, but I was correct)
  3. We won't see any more major public transport projects proposed or unveiled - no new Metrolink, railway, water taxi proposals.
(again, a little obvious, but I was correct)
  4. The HS2 terminus will be at Victoria.
(still all to play for, but I'm leaning towards it being Mayfield now)
  5. No major developments at MediaCity or Spinningfields.
    (correct)
  6. TMS won't be fixed quickly; we'll see it slowly enabled in phases, with many hiccups. It'll be autumn/winter before the entire network is running under TMS.
(I was actually too optimistic - it's still not working!)
  7. Axis won't go anywhere.
    (sigh - correct)
  8. There will be one surprise "big deal" project announced, but I really have no idea what.
    (River Street just about qualifies)
To quote that certain controversial poster, I really do know **** all...

Here's your Manchester 2013 horoscope, imbued with all the fine qualities of a palm reading:
  • "Tomorrow" will be a Cisco-led distributed corporate/business networking operation. Based in Manchester, it will have a small or moderate impact on the technology sector - a proof of concept that will seem futuristic but offer no long-term tangible promotional or industry benefits to Manchester in particular.
  • HS2 will slot in under Victoria. There is no reason for me to think this is very likely, other than that half of you lot are going to say Mayfield, so I can only win if I say something different. And Mayfield comes with a host of complications of its own, to be fair.
  • The River Street tower proposal will somehow make it through to construction.
  • The MEN will continue to call it "Beetham Tower 2", much to the chagrin of everyone else on the planet.
  • A new Tesco Metro store will open somewhere in Greater Manchester.
  • Manchester United will win the Premier League - and Ferguson *won't* retire on a high.
  • 2 St Peter's Square will go in for planning, but will be altered slightly to head off concerns it is not in keeping with the spirit of the St Peter's Square masterplan.
  • No major developments, aside from a couple of decent but somewhat unremarkable office block proposals.

The glow from the explosion will be visible all the way over in Manchester when the HS2 route is announced.

Luxury dining in Manchester could finally be exciting. I'm not a snob but it would be nice if Manchester finally got a Michelin star and good PR for influential visitors to the city. I think it is the only feather the city does not have in its cap. I think journalists and chefs visiting the city are always dismayed at the lack of a Michelin star for such a cultural city with history. Simon Rogan is taking over at the Midland and Aiden Byrne is launching the Manchester House restaurant in Spinningfields so it seems we may finally have hope.

Actually, all those politicians etc are pro HS2, they want an additional link built but are savvy enough to realise that will never happen unless HS2 is developed in the first place.
