Must agree, the "unfinished bit" is dissappointing now Hotel la Tour is finished, but then the space next to Hotel la Tour where the demolished Island House stood is dissappointing too...surely this could be landscaped at least

I beleive I said the bit where Island House stood.. not talking Masshouse, the one nobody wanted to be demolished.... The insinuation at the time was Hotel la Tour didn't want the eyesore next to it, so why when its demolished and 6 months after the hotel opens its still boarded off...would it kill them to level it and put down some grass seed?

Hi,

This plot of land is owned by the Ministry of Justice and is the chosen destination for the development of Birmingham’s new Magistrates Court. While the project has been delayed, we are still in discussion and hopefully we should be able to see some movement on this soon!

I could have told them that thanks ExSq! The land reserved for Mag Courts is ok at present - nice bit of plough and furrow landscaping already in place! That can wait as I'm excited for McLaren's neighbours.

Is there some further work to be done by the steps and the partially completed pavillion/retail unit at the back of Hive?

Nope, the insinuation was the land owners wanted to get rid of it as it was an empty building and costing money just for standing, Hotel La tour were fine with it being there.

Ok stand corrected, never was that impressed with it myself, but what's with the boarded up derilict plot it stood on? just a poor selling point for the city to the visitors in the Hotel..

The land owners claimed that they wanted to turf it over until demand for a development there picked up. It was to tidy it up to make it visually acceptable.. obviously they couldn't be bothered now.. however I wonder if this is also being used for plant machinery storage for the road improvements

The delay in delivering the 'much-anticipated' piece of landscaping where Island House once stood is 'salt in the wounds' as far as I'm concerned. It appears the land owners could not care less - they certainly did not care enough to listen to local opinion about trying to keep the building. Shame on them.

Oh and just to set the record straight, the land owners (of Island House plot) that I refer to above are not the same organisation who are developing the Masshouse project.

The council/planners have no power, unless it is a danger to pedestrians- hence why it's boarded up.

I went for a meal at Hotel La Tour recently and I was told that the land quite close to the hotel, currently a car park that you walk past from Moor Street Station, is to become another hotel. Is this true?

they do, the council can issue a notice to tidy land that is an eyesore. they just dont do it.

That is not true, it is to become the HS2 railway station. CPOs have already been issued.
