Selfridges has bought Nations House on Wigmore Street for £130 million. (immediately behind their oxford street store.) The building which is currently offices will be demolished, and a new mixed use extension will be built in its place, designed by Renzo Piano.

Kewl! That will be Piano's 4th major building in London. I love his stuff...

Looking at Google Maps, Nations House appears to be a fairly new building. Can't say I'm a fan of the current building, so it'll be interesting to see what Renzo comes up with.

Yep, they're building this now. Will be nice to have some modernity over there in Putney.

Here's the planning application for it, which was bombarded with objections:
http://planning.wandsworth.gov.uk/WA...mber=2012/1833 Oh, if you can't be arsed looking at that, then here's the design and access document (pdf file) with loads more info for the building: http://planning.wandsworth.gov.uk/WA...df&pageCount=1 |

Wow looks great! Putney people don't like modernity much, as a rule... I'd love to live in Putney though, so what does that tell you about me?
Anyway, I think the design is great and hope construction starts soon.

Well it's probably too close to St Paul's for a skyscraper.
