I must agree with Whaley Range. Very nice streets and lovely houses. It is let down by its proximity to Old Trafford and Moss Side and its lack of amenities.
It has to be said that it is definitely up and coming.

Let's us continue with this theme.
I once worked with a woman from west Africa, who remains a great friend to us, especially her husband who is completely and utterly different in all regards to her, which makes it even more interesting. Anyway I once confessed that despite the utter rationale researched nature of our professionals, I have always felt this gut feeling about places and that more than ever determined whether I liked or not, such locations. Later still, I have studied and found that intuition feeling is essential in determining our rational feelings and without gut feeling you never contract the rational. (thus Spock is bollix you @@@@ trekkies) So based on my second sense I can place these erm places in the continued thumbs up like section. Driving down Great Ancoats Street at night Tommyfield market in the eighties Piccadilly station at any time Constant dreams about a model shop in Reddish I once and only once visited as a kid in the 80s Rusholme curry alley in the early 90s when it seemed exciting The pride I have for places like the Marble Arch and that it isn't and can't be overwhelmed by undesirables of any class or intellect. And oddly as it might seem, the working week walk through Bury town centre.

My favourite places in Manchester are:
City Centre Oxford St/Whitworth St Junction One of the few parts of Manchester that screams 24/7 World City Thomas St Slowly evolving into one of Manchester's liveliest, most interesting streets. Oldfield Rd The view of the City Centre, especially at night. Wow. Alleyways between St Anne's Sq and Lloyd St Feeling like a true Manc, whenever you weave your way across the city. Exchange Sq Compared to Piccadilly Gardens, St Peter's Square and Albert Square, this space doesn't seem to attract as much criticism. It is designed in a way which separates the movements of the through (people) traffic and the areas in which one can sit down and relax. An underrated space. The Parsonage A great escape from the City Centre, metres from Deansgate. Suburbs/Satellite Towns Dovestone Reservoir, Castleshaw Roman Fort and 'The Square' Dobcross, Saddleworth Breathtaking! The Green, Worsley A little Home Counties village green tucked within the M60. Church Ln, Prestwich Village This little lane of Bury New Road is host to: Aumbry (The best restaurant in Manchester) St Mary's Church - One of the oldest Churches in Manchester, where many-a Coronation Street wedding/funeral has been filmed. The Church Inn - A great little boozer. Prestwich Clough/Prestwich Forest Park - A great semi-rural escape from the Northside's nicest 'burb Beech Rd, Chorlton and Burton Rd, Didsbury Probably the coolest bars in Manchester. Rivington Pike, Bolton Good views! Interesting history. Silver Street, Bury Wonderful victorian architecture and a lot of leisure activities all in one place! East of the A6 (excluding Merseyway) Stockport Town Centre Stockport Town Centre is somewhere that I only recently visited and I've been back several times since, it's completely under-rated. The area around the Underbanks, The Market Place and Chestergate are really pretty, it's a shame the town centre has so many retail vacancies. School Lane, Dunham Town, Altrincham Cute cottages etc Fallowfield Loop Line An escape from the city and quite useful as an orbital cycleway. Back Hope Street, Higher Broughton The Star Inn. Say no more. Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Chapel Manchesurburbia at its best.
