Noticed that a girder has been placed across one side of the GMLR , as part of the final stretch of the Eastern Freeway.

Not much activity is visible beyond RBK Academy though - it appears the land acquisition issues on that section persist

MUMBAI: In a significant move to decongest traffic in the western suburbs, the state administration on Monday invited consultants to design a flyover to help traffic avoid the crowded JVPD junction.

"We have floated a tender inviting designs for the proposed flyover as, in the present scenario, JVPD junction gets high huge traffic delaying commuting time by a minimum of 15 minutes,"the disposal by minimum 15 minutes said a senior official with the city's metropolitan administration.

Similarly, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) also wants consultants to design an additional parking facility in Bandra Kurla Complex to reduce parking on the roads in and around the business hub.

According to MMRDA sources, the flyover over the JVPD junction will start on Gulmohar Road and will end towards New Link Road, to help offer direct access to Lokhandwala-bound traffic coming from Western Express highway (WEH).

Currently, traffic from S V Road and Burfiwala flyover comes to Gulmohar Road to go to New Link Road but runs into crosses with the traffic from Juhu, sources said.

"The flyover will provide direct access to traffic between New Link Road and WEH or S V Road. And the Roads under the flyover will cater to traffic from Juhu and Godrej Beach Road," sources said.

This would've been a dream when I lived there.
I remember the choc-a-bloc traffic at this junction during my board exams.

Bridge over Milan subway to be ready by June

Chittaranjan Tembhekar TNN

Mumbai: By June, over 60,000 motorists using the constricted Milan subway can opt to give the crucial connector in Santa Cruz (W) a miss. As part of the efforts to decongest the stretch, a 450-ton steel two-lane carriageway spanning the railway tracks was placed on preerected pillars in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar, the 700-mt ambitious flyover is almost complete except for another carriageway which will be launched by January–end to make it a fourlane bridge. “The subway, which serves as an important link between the chock-ablock S V Road and the Western Express Highway, is more often than not inundated in the monsoon and remains closed for vehicular traffic. Once the Rs.83.74-crore flyover is operational, motorists can just zip over the subway and save nearly 30 minutes of travel time,” he added

Incidentally, the cost of the bridge has almost doubled from the time it was first conceptualized and been dogged by delays thanks to frequent changes in designs. “The fact that the railway authorities have been very cautious while granting permissions and NOCs at various stages of planning the bridge has delayed the project by two years,” an official said.

For MMRDA chief engineer Sharad Sabnis, the launching of the 61-mt-long carriageway was a special moment. “The carriageway was launched in three parts – 17m, 22m and 22m – during the three blocks granted by the railways,” said Sabnis.

To use this flyover as and when it is ready, BKC-bound (south-bound) motorists from S V road driving towards WEH will have to take a Uturn from below Santa Cruz flyover. And those wanting to go to S V road from BKC will have to take the service road along WEH to take the flyover.

Piling machine stands at the centre of majiwada junction now, probably will get some pics if possible.. also patlipada flyover finishing work is preety awesome but condition of road below isnt tht best considering it is road to Hiranandani's Let them finish the cleaning work below so would yield a better picture..

Don't know whether it is the quality of construction or just a better standard of maintenance but flyovers in Thane look much better than the ones in Mumbai.

For a concrete road it looks deplorable.
Is Atlanta still collecting Toll for the stretch?

The road is very good except for a few metres from Thane when it climbs. The Mumbra bypass is a life saver just like JJ flyover in SoBo. If u had the road few years earlier,it was nightmare with constant landslides and mile long jams, with concrete lot has changed
