To make this thread attractive, try to concentrate on the big projects of Howrah, like KWIC, Forum Pravesh, Ideal Grand, Gateway etc or other big infrastructure, healthcare projects and so on & try to follow their progress. Remember, quality matters even if it comes in rare parcels, but don't go for quantity but trash.
It is better not to fill up the thread with such petty projects, such are found in every oli-golis of Kolkata. This will take the steam out from this thread.

Saw the Ideal Grand location yesterday. Looks like a big project. The one change I noticed is many of the highrise buildings along GT Road now have a coat of paint.

A lot of work is going on for the EW Metro at Howrah Maidan.

Unfortunately no photos as my camera battery died and my cousin had no interest in taking photos of Howrah.

Mushrooming of unauthorised constructions in Howrah has the district administration worried.
Senior officials of the district administration said action against illegal construction could not be taken because of political intervention.
Earlier, the builders who used to enjoy the patronage of Left Front leaders had crossed the floor before the Trinamul Congress came to power and now they were taking a lead part in unauthorised construction.
The Trinamul Congress leaders, who are allegedly involved in illegal construction, are following the path of the Left Front. They are constructing an additional floor illegally which is later regularised by payment of fine. The money fetched by selling flats on the illegal floors are divided between police, Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) officials and party leaders, they said.
The officials said many buildings that are coming up illegally are situated on narrow roads and do not have proper fire-fighting equipment and are vulnerable to fire.
An illegal building is coming up at 216 Sri Ram Dhang Road in Salkia. The matter has been reported to Howrah police commissionerate and HMC. But steps have not yet been taken to stop the illegal construction.
The HMC officials alleged builders are not even allowing the mandatory settling time for pillars some of which are being built on garbage-filled vats. Also, a drain that carried night soil has been filled up, they said.
