Subham Greens is in the same state as was updated by you recently, so I did not click any pics. Also, the Universal project really has not taken off. Orchid Gardens has come up well but it is bunched so closely to the Surya Kiran project that it is difficult to tell which is which, hence, again no pics. My dad told me that the Kharguli riverfront has got some beautiful buildings. Try and capture those as that aspect is something truly unique to Ghy and can set Ghy apart from many other upcoming Tier 2 towns/cities.

A happy new year to you too, FE! As I mentioned above, the Kharguli shoreline is dotted with beautiful houses and y'll not have any problems with security as a lot of guys on FB keep posting pics of that area. Try the Kharguli Riviera complex- should be beautiful. Also, a lot of construction is taking place near Baghorbari (off Panjabari) and Kahilipara (Subham Heights and Agrim residency, to be specific). Prithvi Planet at Lachit Nagar is also an impressive building. Let me know if you are not able to figure out these locations or need more specific directions.

@FE

besides that you could explore outskirts of guwahati too, clover leaf flyover at jalukbari, Taj vivanta site (irrespective of the building status), shradhanjali mall, near viswaratna hotel, Hyatt regency etc,,

u could keep on pressing your cam shutter as long as you do not get tired

Does anybody have any idea what this building complex is? It's perched on top of the hill opposite to the Geeta Mandir hill.

Two Townships of 600 acers each planned in guwahati

GMDA spreads wings

Irfan Khondker, Guwahati (Apr 26): To keep pace with a rapidly growing city bursting at the seams, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has brought in more areas under its jurisdiction for to give the benefits of developmental projects to more number of people.

After the expansion of the GMDA’s “area”, Guwahati will add 66 square kms to its present area of 262 square kms. The expansion is toward the eastern and western borders of the city.

“The new metropolitan jurisdiction will extend up to Mirza in one side and Basistha Chariali and Khetri on the other sides. While many developmental projects are already on in many of the areas beyond the present jurisdiction of GMDA, the new areas will help us monitor the projects better,” M Angamuthu, CEO of GMDA, told Seven Sisters Post.

“This step from has been taken in view of the rapid growth in the population in the metropolitan area. If the jurisdiction of the GMDA is increased it will surely be helpful in taking the benefits of the government’s projects to more people,” he added.

In the endeavor to expand its jurisdiction, the GMDA has also chalked out plans to develop two satellite townships near the city. “Both the townships will be of 600 acres each. The areas are being identified but one will be somewhere near the airport,” added Angamathu.

The identification and demarcation of the metropolitan area of the city is part of the Comprehensive Master Plan 2025, which has been drawn up with a view to ensure all-round development of the city.

The GMDA also hopes to give better service in catering to the basic needs like 24X7 water supply and transportation. Apart from the ambitious multi-crore Guwahati water supply projects for regular supply of water, the metropolitan authority will soon adopt a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic.

Few of the routes for implementation of the BRTs have already been identified, where one lane in the street will be reserved for free movement of buses with dedicated stoppages.

The CEO also confirmed that plans for installation monorail or a metro-rail for the city is at the ‘feasibility level’.

All the projects will cater to the new areas of Guwahati.

However, the CEO also admitted that with such large projects to be implemented for the city will require huge amount of manpower. He said compared to the workload the department has very few officials. “We will very soon identify the number of work force required and the recruitment process will be start thereafter,” Angamathu said. “GMDA is a fully technical department; we will mainly recruit engineers and technicians who will cater to the needs of the department and help Guwahati and Guwahatians”.

Shangri-LA? I thought it was three towers of 20 floors each. Also, it will envelope the entire Games Village although it is difficult to see where so much land is available.
