High-rise neighborhoods built for their views

Does anyone live in a highrise that has a view of Downtown, as opposed to being in Downtown? Could a view of a skyline be a selling point for residential highrises in places? It might already be the case in places like Jersey City, with the view of Lower Manhattan.

On this note, how about a neighborhood of highrises built specifically to give a view of a natural feature, like a mountain range or body of water? We have plenty of places with hotel highrises along beaches to provide quick access to the beach, but are there places with lots of residential highrises that offer views of beaches or water (and these places might not even be along the beach)?

I'd rather have a mignificent view on downtown than living in downtown.

in the case of Fort Bonifacio, one of the selling points is definitely the view of Makati.

I don't live in a skyscraper anymore (I couldn't stand the slow, poorly programmed lifts that result in it taking upwards of five minutes to get from your door to outside the building and vice versa), but when I did, I did have a cracking view.

Obviously Dubai is a bit of a special case because of their being so many clusters of skyscrapers, but I definitely preferred looking at the Marina, than living there.

In Hong Kong a lot of "mid-levels" properties have amazing views. There is only 1 risk. There is always the chance that they build a property right in front of yours even if you think there is no space for it!

Most of the residential highrises along Lake Michigan in Chicago are certainly built for their views. In neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, they take advantage of the views of the Lake, the Park, and Downtown.

Highrises in the East Hyde Park/Kenwood near the University of Chicago have views of the Lake and Downtown.

The entire NJ side across the Hudson river from Manhattan is built up with midrises, highrises and skyscrapers with views of Manhattan, specifically for that purpose. There are also new residential skyscrapers in Brooklyn and highrises in Queens with main selling points being views of Manhattan.

The neighborhood of Polanco in Mexico city is built along side the Chapultepec park mainly for it's beautiful views.

The neighborhood of Santa Fe in Mexico city too is also built on the edge of of a hilly area to take advantage of the wonderful views of Mexico city.

The vidalta development in Mexico city is currently a massive project under construction which gives people the benefit of a magnificent view of Mexico city. A really cool feature about this development is that developers are building a private bridge for residents to easily access their homes.

As for the condo im living in, we dont have the perfect of a city's skyline but we can definitely see the skylines of major business districts in our capital - Ortigas, BGC, Makati, and even some parts of Manila.
