no need to apologise
image shows other projects too - spot the tate extension in there for instance. i noticed people on here complain that it's hard to see all the proposed projects in one go so that image sprang to mind as good general purpose shot.

Is this planned development likely to go ahead?
It really is needed. I can't wait to see that shipwreck Sampson House disappear. |

I'd say it is very likely to go ahead at this point.

Is it just my imagination or do these new renders make 240 Blackfriars look a bit smaller than it is going to be? Or are the renders pretty much spot on?

The problem with adjacent scheme is the almost identical height to 1 Blackfriars which is a mistake I think because there needs to be a pinnacle in that cluster and this building should be it.

I think they could both serve as a pinnacle, with the road a corridor between them. Other building can then taper down on either side.

I agree, a double-pinnacle is no problem (it would be an asymmetrical version of the Twin Towers and other similar pairs of towers). I'm not sure, however, if the two towers in this instance complement each other enough.
I agree with other people's comments that the chunky white band at the top of the new tower doesn't work. That motif doesn't connect with any buildings nearby. It would be defensible on a tower in a different location, but it doesn't harmonize with the towers in the area or any new towers in the centre of London. I found the defense the architect made (quoted by Darjole) to be bizarre. |

Sorry to bump this thread fellas. Any news on this one? Down in the dumps about the pinnacle, want to see another construction site up and running. Is there anything new on site?

I assume there's no chance of them reapplying with the old height now there are more buildings planned?

Highly unlikely seeing as it has already got permission for this new height I doubt they will want to go through the process again as it was debated due to height last time and reduced.

That'll be the (approved) 133m proposal for 20 Blackfriars Road, if I'm not mistaken.

Here's a somewhat blurry late night photo from Tuesday evening - definitely a decent sized piling rig, though the street lamp right behind it doesn't help matters much, and I decided the odds of getting a decent picture were nil and abandoned! (I don't seem to be able to link directly to it with Picasa for some reason).
