I fail to see what one has to do with the other. Art is art. Whether it's created with permission or at the expense of anything else is irrelevant. You may not believe graffiti deserves any sort of reverence, but that's a different discussion altogether.

Hi, I would like to ask whether there is facebook profile, which shares information about any events (not only cultural) in London?

I dunno. Stuff like the picture below is undoubtedly art....I just wish they'd do it on paper and canvas rather than on the side of a dilapidated building

It would lose it's power though. Think about the area that it is in and what it's supposed to represent. Street art has helped this part of East London become vibrant. There are similar areas in other global cities like Williamsburg, New York that are similar. Also, it's a disused building but it wouldn't surprise me if the owners allowed it. Better for it to have something good painted on it rather than it just sat there, rotting away. Eventually the area will gentrify and some of this art will be lost forever.
You can't really compare that to some talentless scrote's shitty tag he's plastered all over some subway wall. |

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd pop in and let you all know about a thread in SSC's The Barracks re the Falkland Islands issue with Argentina. If any of you would like to join the discussion and possibly vote in the poll which is asking if you agree that the Falklands should have the right of self determination or should they be handed to Argentina, then that would be great.

Yes, much better to just have a blank and crumbling wall.

Some 80's photos have appeared in the flickr development and construction of London pool which make a nice contrast to the photos posted in today's skyline / update threads...

Using it for street art is much better. A white wall wont attract many people to the area.

I am not talking about big murals - I love the ones you find in Brighton - I am talking about the cockends that go around 'tagging' everything. I.E. 99% of graffiti.

what happened to the mural?
There was a similar one in Woolwich, one day last year it was inexplicably half painted, badly painted over in red. Maybe by an owner. |

Shocking how one of the worst borough councils is in charge of one of the most important areas.

Well, they're going to have to change tack if the UK High Street is changing to become a more mixed leisure use.

IMO Paris still has the leading edge in terms of dining venues (by this I mean the quality of the actual physical locations), though London is catching up very quickly. In terms of quality of food at the high end, London is a bit more experimental and exciting.
