It's just that the town names are getting longer, and they have fixed dimensions for the names.

This is one of the prospering towns of Kerala, especially in South Kerala.
Lot of NRIs hail from here.

From the picture itself it is clear that there is ample scope of widening the road to 6-8 lane. Vacant land is available extensively on both sides of the highway.
