Lol yes let's all vote for Tony Abbot in the hope that Malcolm Turnbull becomes PM. I don't mind Turnbull but Abbot is a fool sucking up to simpletons with his dogged focus on non issues (Carbon price and stop the boats anyone?) and lack of any policy. Not to mention his lies, back flips, repetitive one liners, and questionable history. He is such an embarrassment as opposition leader let alone being PM.

L2 who is soon becoming a member of a major Australian political party
Who uses a wide angle lens for a portrait? His head looks freaking huge.
Turnbull is the only decent option. But it's clear that if the choice is between Abbott and Gillard, the lesser evil is Gillard by a mile. No way I'm voting for a homophobic xenophobic climate change denying ironing housewives send people to the mines mad conservative monk. Gillard is only half of these things.

Meh, if all PMs suck, don't be a donkey-voting wanker, figure out who your local members are and at least have the self-interest to pick the better option locally. It is more than reasonable to vote for the party of someone you hate over someone you love if the party you love has listed up a complete potato of a candidate.

Which is why parties get away with parachuting grossly incompetent cronies into seats...

This is a parliamentary system not the US congress... Your local member has to vote according to what the party leader says. So I see very little point in voting based on the local member.

Not always, and they still have involvement in the local area. And they're still the only one you have control over.

Sure none of us will ever agree what policy is good or bad as it seems almost any nation across the world is similarly divided ( other than Dictatorships )
I think when a Government wins a term it wins or loses the next election on the basis of that term. I am not happy with the present Government and think the negativity by the Liberal side of politics is mainly a result of them knowing the public is not satisfied either...yeah a few are happy as mud but that shows how diverse we are : )
Are you still pretending to not be a rusted-on Coalition voter?!

Theoretically Liberal and National MPs who aren't in cabinet are free to cross the floor without repercussion. Even those in cabinet theoretically could absent themselves.

Practice is not following theory on this one as can be seen on all issues. Ask any of those backbenchers who failed to toe the line.

Ummm, what good are theoreticals when they clearly do not equate to what actually happens in reality?

As has been said, voting based on your local member is pretty pointless in our system of parliament. You're voting for the party, not the member, regardless of whoever's name appears on the ballot sheet.

No, my point is that it's a winning team. Two excellent leaders, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull. Neither one is a dud. You're voting for a good combo. It standards for excellence in governance, it stands for a strong Australia.

What are you voting for when you vote ALP - you get this combo, as we know Gillard will eventually be dumped, Rudd-style.

Him as PM - yuck

You ought to be embarrassed for making such stupid comments in a public place

I think around 67% of the public have consistently been polled as thinking Abbott is a dud (of the highest order).

Well it's not as if you've said anything of substance regarding this. All you've mentioned is 'winning team', 'strong Australia' and 'good combo'. As I said, he panders to simpletons - clearly.
