Lufthansa Inaugural Flight To Pakistan

Here's a set of photos sent by forum member dragonfly. The photos show resumption of Lufthansa passenger flights for Pakistan on October 28, 2007 after a gap of...uhh...a long time!

Funny that you should post it on the same day Lufthansa decided to close down its service to Karachi.

Who got to eat the cakes? and serving sweets.... *

There must be a huge demand for such flights for I can't figure out how these European airlines afford this destination. I mean PIA or middle-eastern airlines operate the same route with much cheaper tickets.

I don't know exactly about lufthansa...but Air France or British airways for example cost atleast 1.5 times the tickets of PIA, Emirates, GULF AIR, QATAR AIRWAYS,etc. The only explanation that comes to mind are:

1. more demand than supply...which seems true seeing the rush on PIA and ME Airlines
2. A good number of European travelers that are sponsored by their govt/company that are obliged to use the national carrier.

*though i wouldn't mind the sweets
