✔️. VIC 1st Double-Deck lifts.

Ffs whats wrong with you soft c0ks?

Melbourne's turning into a real city. No such thing as too close or too dense.

Don't go all Nimby on us now.

I'm the last to go 'nimby' I assure you Jack. I fight NIMBYs in my area all the time. I just don't like cramming as such. Density is great - but buildings so close just doesn't appeal as much. One detracts from the architecture of the other. You can see density anywhere - we really don't need to follow when we have the space.

I guess Australia has no more room left huh!? Pfft!
I agree. This is a beautiful building no doubt, but it's stupid being so close to Nauru House. It detracts from the other buildings around it. Just poor planning

We might have a lot of space to build talls overall, however, the amount of high end desirable land say a Collins Street address is quite small.

To encourage an even spread of development the council needs to IMO upgrade and beautify more parts of the CBD.
So far a lot of our new areas like Docklands have failed to acquire a prestigious feel.

It's slowly happening. Southbank Promenade is a good example.

Well put and I grant you that accurate point Jack.
So let's cram the shit out of a prestigious address and ruin it.

It looks great at ground level, will link Collins St and Little Collins well and bring life to a currently sad forecourt.

WOW WOW WOW

I love little pedestrian only laneways. Especially narrow ones lined with tallish buildings (four stories is enough).
I find them very intimate and "safe" for want of a better word.
Hopefully these will feel a little more real than QVs. Those don't work for me. Too shopping Centre like.
I guess it works better when the shops along a lane are actually in seperate buildings.

The NEXT hotel site, in Little Collins.

The South tower.

The second crane seems to be speeding things up.

Les, you posted somewhere that 80 has a 3rd crane. I dropped by today and the Collins Street crane is probably just being re-positioned, as there are still only two cranes.

Redden, Yes that is what l saw yesterday when l went pass as l was walking along Little Collins Street, l thought it was another crane being erected as l walked pass.

Sorry if l was wrong in what l said in my last post no-one is perfect including myself.

Like you say it most likely is being re-positioned, that just goes to show you know more than l do not to worry.

Cause l was in a hurry to get to my 3:00pm dental appointment, l could not really stop and have a proper look to see what was happening with the crane.

They are going to have to squeeze in a 3rd crane for the NEXT hotel one day, Les, so keep your eye on it. The biggest change to the top end of Collins for many years is all happening!

According to the General Cranes Facebook page it's being upgraded to a larger model.

Welcome back, Glenn, that was a close one. We were seriously afraid that you would suffer the fate of so many other Aussies in Thailand, i.e. get hooked on the Bangkok party cruises, with endless loops of the Choa Phraya river, eyes glazed, hands trembling, echoing the mantra of so many other victims, "More, more".
