Animo: Can you do a tanaga in Spanish? Let's use tanaga in different languages.

In Davao, they also use the term 'bisdaks'

@ mateo: Try to think spontaneous, just anything that rhymes pero associated sya with an object or a topic. It can be jokes as well. Try to do something creative. Don't think about grammar or language.

Ubas

Pabili nga ng ubas
Paborito kong prutas
Natitig sa katabi
Tuloy, di nakabili

I'll try freestyle not really good at poetry:

grano de la arena
vamos arriba
bajo la luna
escuchando

---

grain of sand
up you go
under the moon
listening...

---

I don't even think it rhymes.

Not that popular I think. I mostly hear this from our Cebuano friends.

tigidig. Gud one. You have the free syllable ones.

Animo, You got the rhymes in Spanish in AAAB but yeah, you have the free syllable ones too. I like poems about nature.

Askal, this thread is a wonderful idea! Kudos to you! Are you a literature student, if you don't mind me asking?

Nope, Actually Im into business majors but I love literature. I read books and research about poems, epics and short stories. I just found out this cool literary style on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanaga.

I created this thread so I can bring out one of best Philippine literary style such as this one. If Japan have Haikus, we have Tanaga!

Eto raw ang ginawa ni GMA nung 2004 election:

Hello Garci Hello ko!
Ako ba ay nahilo?
Bilangin mo, magkano?
Dagdagan mo boto ko!

eto ang mga naisulat kong Tanaga kanina

1.
Siya ay nakaluklok
doon sa may palasyo
siya ay desperadong
manatiling pinuno.

2.
Kaniyang katungkulan
kaniya'y nalimutan
at sa kapangyarihan
siya ay nasilawan.

3.
Sa kan'yang pamumuno
Multo'y nagbabalik
Abusadong pinuno
nagbabantang magbalik.

4.
Maliit ma'y matinik
Sa kaniyang pagkapit
na labis na mahigpit
mata ay nanlilisik.

5.
Inang sinamantala
ngayon ay nagdurusa,
kailan kaya siya
tunay ngang mapalaya?

6.
Ang mga kabataan
hiling ay kalayaan
sa kanilang pagtanda
'di tunay na malaya.

7.
Noon ang ating piso
matayog kan'yang tayo
ngayon ay lumulubog,
bukas muling tatayog.

8.
Luntian ang kulay
sa kan'yang kamusmusan
Dilaw naman ang kulay
sa kan'yang katandaan.

(note: the first 3 or 4 is no one in particular, but could be applied to any abusive leader)
