Statesboro, Waynesboro and Pembroke Georgia

Statesboro - founded in 1803, pop about 30,000, it's home to Georgia Southern University.

Waynesboro - population about 6,000, it's located about 35 miles south of Augusta.

Pembroke - population about 2,500, it's a classic railroad town, as the small CBD runs along the tracks.

Some lovely pictures. What did you think passing through? Did you stop for any of the local restaurants or shops?

Statesboro is a charming city that's grown slowly enough you can still see each the styles from each era in the architecture. The juxtaposition of mid-century and early 1900's structures has been well preserved save for the northern part of the bypass and near the mall. Certainly helps that they're close enough to Savannah to tap into that larger metro area for services and jobs, but otherwise is isolated enough to stand alone as a community. Relatively modest impacts from sprawl, allowing the downtown to stay vital. I often wonder what could've been if they were a little bit closer to Savannah. Does that alter their business dynamic and appeal?
