Take advantage of extended deadline

Jalan SS24/9, abutting the Taman Megah commercial area, includes a badminton court, council wet market, and a food court. It is being proposed for rezoning from ‘residential’ to ‘limited commercial’ in the RTPJ draft amendments.

IT HAS been seven days since the deadline to object the proposed amendments to the Petaling Jaya Local Plans (RTPJ) was extended, but the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) received only about 1,400 objection forms.

The new deadline to submit the objections for both the RTPJ 1 and 2 is Sept 22.

The majority of the objections received, over 1,000, were against the proposed Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Highway (Dash) under RTPJ1.

Another 300 were against the rezoning of a temple land in SS4B.

Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin said aside from the objections to Dash and the land in SS4B, the feedback on proposed rezoning of other parts of the city had been very few.

Two popular food courts - Ming Tien and Asia Cafe - are closing shop

BY JADE CHANandOH ING YEEN

IT'S neither trick nor treat this Halloween Day for patrons of the popular Ming Tien food court in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya.

Come Oct 31, the 17-year-old open-air food court will cease operations.

The neighbouring Taman Megah badminton hall and souvenir shop will also be closed to make way for a mixed development project.

StarMetro spoke to customers and traders affected by the closure as well as regular badminton players at the nearby hall.

Residents, too, had their say on the planned development there

Passed by the area last Sunday when I went to tapau breakfast at the corner kopitiam... The whole place has been hoarded up and only the wet market remains in operation on that plot of land...

Badminton court have been completely dismantled. What's left is the frame of the building. Expect it to be gone by mid of the week, probably earlier.

All areas inaccessible, except for the wet market.
