Good news, is this Bradford One group the new name for the Bradford Odeon Rescue Group or are they a completely different organisation? Hope their proposals to regenerate the Odeon take place and I would certainly trust such an organisation over the incompetent Bradford City Council.
They are two seperate entities though they are working for the same thing ie retention of the odeon.... www.bradfordone.com

Another bidder emerges

I'm surprised this story hasn't been put up yet-

Quote:
A new plan to restore Bradford’s former Odeon building is to be revealed in detail at a launch event.

But first the Telegraph & Argus can provide a glimpse into how the building could look under the Bradford Live restoration plans.

The scheme aims to show how a world class live music venue, which would hold 3,500 people, could be created within the 1930s building.
From the Telegraph & Argus

...and a slightly different story from the same source

Good news, I hope. I'd love the Odeon to come to life, however, I think it's crucial that whatever happens, it's domes & facade are retained. They are an important part of the City's history and part of it's social fabric, irreplaceable!

Good to see Bradford City Council purchase the Odeon although I wonder if they would actually do anything to try restore this building or just leave it to rot or worse encourage it's demolition? http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.u...nance_is_paid/ I would have rather had some private company or organisation take over the Odeon imo.

Well hopefully BradfordOne or Bradaford Live will get their hands on it and transform it into a live venue

As long is stands I don't really care what it's used for.

I went to Harrogate on Saturday to see Robert Cray in front of a capacity 1000 audience. Certainly Bradford has nowhere to put on that sort of "known" but not "popular" artist. No way would they play in St Georges Hall over a Leeds venue.

Been following BradfordOne on twitter recently, bit of an update after I enquired...

"@BradfordOne: @T0M_LUFC Our architects are drawing up the visuals right now and we will be releasing them soon. Timescales should be released soon too :-)"

Bradford City Council has bought the former Odeon for £1: http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.u...Odeon_for___1/

Really someone needs to step up to the plate and propose a new use for the Odeon if it is to be saved as I can't trust Bradford Council who would most likely have no idea as to how to restore this landmark building.
