Lots of retail activity in the past week or two. I'm not sure if it is a particularly volatile time in the market or just the pace of reporting. But there have been some notable openings and closings.

On the closings, it was reported that Urban Outfitters and Michael Kors are closing their Harborplace locations. Amaryllis closed in Harbor East and the Natty Boh store closed in Fells Point.

On the openings, a new French restaurant, Chez Hugo, was announced for the CBD in an area that hasn't supported similar dining in ages. Similarly, the Candler Building, which previously housed a slew of unimpressive casual dining places, has undergone an overhaul and will be the new location for Blackwall Hitch. Finally, Baltimore continues its trend of new independent bookshops; Greedy Reads is opening in Fells Point.

Has anyone been past Harborplace recently? How is the renovation moving along?
