Metro would take atleast 15 years, cant live there with current mess for 15 years.

Flyover or BRTS is need of the hour.

Already Pallavaram GST flyover work was stopped.
today Morning huge traffic due to SETC Bus was hitting the Pallavaram GST FLYOVER.

May be they are planning (Making Drama) to cancel the flyover construction?

I guess that ROB was part of Tambaram Eastern bypass road. It starts from Rajakilpakkam and ends at Perungalathur crossing GST. Once this road is completed traffic for Medavakkam, Velacherry can pass through this bypass to reach GST instead of touching Tambaram.

Rajakilpakkam to Mappedu 4 laning was completed few years ago but other leg got struck on LA issues. It is going to be another ROB which GST elevated expressway needs to pass over.

Why would anyone want to come to Perungalathur when one can reach Mappedu with right turn at Vandalur and catching Mappedu road there. What lies in western part of this ROB is the question mark. Maybe they will try to link it to ORR?

That eastern bypass plan made all sense 20 years ago, but now as you said Medavakkam-Velacherry people are looking into other optional roads..

Chengelpet-Sirukundram-Kayar-Mambakkam-Medavakkam is used as alternate road by many.. IMO, this route should be 6-laned and make it as alternate road to GST. SH should do this before elevated expressway starts ground breaking.

Work on Annanur ROB to commence soon

The Highways Department will begin the pile test for the construction of the road over bridge (ROB) at Annanur on the Chennai-Arakkonam railway line this week. The construction of the Rs. 24 crore bridge is expected to commence in a month’s time.

Sources in the department said that the tenders for the construction have been processed, and as a first step, the pile test for the foundation would be conducted at the location. It will take a month for the tests to be completed and design finalised on that basis. After that, the construction would be taken up, explained an official source.

The two-lane bridge will come up 200 m from the Annanur railway gate that will remain open till the facility is completed by the Nabard and Rural Roads wing of the department. Land acquisition for the proposed facility has been completed and the work is likely to take around two years. The gate is located 18 km from Chennai Central in Tiruvallur district.

Thirumullaivoyal resident B. Thamizhselvam said that he uses the gate at least twice a week to reach the market in Avadi and also to Poonamallee and at times has to wait up to half an hour for it to open.

“I have to drive 3 km more if I am to go via Thiruninravur and since petrol no longer sells at Rs. 10 a litre, I cannot afford to save time by using more petrol. In the last two weeks the price of petrol has gone up by Rs. 1.50 a litre,” he said, while expressing happiness over the commencement of construction of the facility.

Does anyone know if there's a problem in land acquisition or something? After the last pillar there's not even a pit where the next pillar is going to be. Is it right at the signal and that's why they are waiting?
