I agree on the covering up the exposed top soil part and the bike lanes, but i personally think bike lanes, although very useful if designed and used as intended, are quite under appreciated both by people and authorities. It is either an after thought or used as a cosmetic decoration on very select roads which no one ends up using. To illustrate what i mean by these points, take the example of a bike lane developed by SMC in recent times, and by doing so watch some Surat cityscapes as well.
1. VIP road bike lane which extends to Canal Road in Vesu area. - They just installed some traffic cones on an existing road, a perfect example of an after thought implementation.
Look at all the broken Traffic cones of the bike lanes
This is where it changes from VIP road to canal road, here they weren't even bothered to install the traffic cones.
Although i appreciate what SMC has tried to do in this area, with proper footpaths and "bike lanes", and it looks very beautiful, but i still think that people don't seem to follow the rules around bike lanes or even deem them important enough to use them properly, so authorities also end up not caring that much to either develop them or maintain the existing ones.
