Chandigarh The City Beautiful, is a city in India that serves as the capital of two states, Punjab and Haryana, and is a union territory of India.
Known internationally for its architecture and urban planning, Chandigarh is home to numerous architectural projects of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Matthew Nowicki, and Albert Mayer
The Union Territory of Chandigarh along with its two satellite cities - Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali (Punjab) and the cantonment of Chandimandir (in Panchkula district) is collectively called as the Chandigarh Tricity
Chandigarh is located near the foothills of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas in Northwest India. Chandigarh means "Fort of Chandi ( A Hindu Goddess)"
Chandigarh is divided in sectors and each sectors have four blocks( A,B,C,D). Each sector apart from residential area has been provided with commercial area( Shop cum flats, single storey shops & separate shops for vegetables/fruits). Same planning is replicated in urban areas of Mohali (Punjab) & Panchkula (Haryana)
Thankx!! Yes this city does not boast of skyscrapers. But the quality of life is best. Nice clean wide roads, full elctricity & high quality drinking water supply and beatiful parks for every sector.
Very nice city ,indeed. I last visited Chandigarh in 1974 and even at that time, the city stood out in comparison to other cities in the North. I wish someone on this forum will take photos and post pics, so we can get a view of Chandigarh today.
These are some stunning pics of Chandigarh, it is very clean and modern, I live in England, but my parents are from Punjab, if I could get a job in Chandigarh, I would move there, but I have too many commitments in UK unfortunately.
Keep up the good work, it's a beautiful city.
Yes, Candigarh is one of the cleanest and well maintained cities in India. I was just passing trough on my way to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh.
