Appleby Soars to New Heights in Downtown George Town

(L to R): Some Partners of Appleby, Graeme Halkerston, Nicolas Joseph, Sherice Arman, Norman Klein, Bryan Hunter, Simon Raftopoulos, Huw Moses OBE, Carlos de Serpa Pimentel and Richard Addlestone, celebrate the groundbreaking for the new tower.

Huw Moses OBE, Managing Partner of Appleby Cayman, makes a few remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Appleby is pleased to announce the expansion of its Cayman Islands office by the addition of a new 6-storey tower at its Fort Street location. The new Appleby tower, to be completed in the summer of 2012, will bring the firm’s total meeting and office space to 80,000 square feet.

On Wednesday 16 March 2011, a ceremony was held at the Appleby offices to break ground for the development. His Excellency the Governor, Duncan Taylor CBE, other Government officials, project team members and the press joined the Partners of Appleby to celebrate the occasion.

The tower has been architecturally designed to blend into the existing colonial style buildings, Clifton House and Artemis House, and features a modern glass façade front. In addition, the building will be constructed with various green initiatives such as energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems as well as water conservation equipment.

Appleby Centre – Tower
TOPIC: Property
October 24, 2012

With occupation anticipated in December, the Appleby Centre is already proving to be a ‘tour de force’, dominating the George Town skyline as the capital’s tallest commercial building. The six-story tower boasts a penthouse boardroom and conference suite with impressive 360-degree views of the George Town harbour and surrounding buildings.

Designed by Rutkowski Baxter Haughton, built and expertly project managed by Arch and Godfrey, from planning through construction to meet all the relevant certifications necessary for full occupancy in December 2012.

The naturally elevated site allows for an impressive 14 ft ground floor slab elevation above mean sea level. The tower has a poured and steel reinforced concrete superstructure with impact rated windows.

The air conditioning is provided by efficient chiller units, safely placed on top of the building and a generator housed over 20 ft above sea level provides all three buildings with full back-up power.

Very nice, really like the Ancient Greek architectural details in it.
