There is an image date in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. The Highcross images say October 2012.

I have found the inspiration for the blue tower!!! It is this beauty in Sofia, Bulgaria. However, Leicester went one step further with colour windows.

We don't need the Blue Boar Inn back in Leicester, when we have the Blue Boring Tower...

Can any Leicester wizards find details/plans for the proposed Baxter Gate hospital development in Loughborough, said to include a new cinema, restaurants etc.

It's been proposed for all manner of developments over the years but the hospital has finally been demolished, and plans seem to be moving - I just can't seem to find any real details

Domain Baxtergate were the original developers for the site (I think).

Seach the site below for "domain"...

Yes, they were the applicants who put in various ludicrous proposals for student accommodation at the site.

According to the local paper a new, properly exciting plan for a multiplex cinema and restaurants etc has now been revealed, but as only a former Loughborough resident I can't pick up a copy- and nothing on the charnwood site as yet.

Cheers though

Eco-village in Leicestershire by HSSP Architects
Practice has designed a carbon-neutral development for Kirby Bellars near Melton Mowbray

HSSP Architects has been working on proposals for a carbon-neutral eco-village in Kirby Bellars, near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

The self-sufficient development will feature 49 homes designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6, with 40% available for affordable rent. Most of the homes will have between one and three bedrooms, while 30% will be four/five-bedroom houses.

Along with a proposed visitor centre, which includes a classroom for educational visits from local schools, the development includes a shop selling local produce and weekly farmers’ markets. The scheme is powered by an anaerobic digester which recycles green waste, including grass cuttings and animal waste from the village, and converts it into electricity.

The architect anticipates that sufficient heat will be generated by the plant to heat and power all the homes, as well as ancillary electrical supplies for car and bike charging.

HSSP Architects said: “Sustainability is more than homes and power generation. It means to have a community of like-minded individuals committed to sustainable living. To our knowledge, this will be the first project of this type. Never before have homes been able to contribute so directly to a local source of heat and power.”

The village also features a reed bed filtration system for waste and sewage, as well as chicken coops and rainwater harvesting which will be fed back into the biodigester.

Residents will be allocated their own allotment, which will be assisted by a fertilizer created as a by-product of the digester.

The waste recycling process will be visible to all, with streams running through the development and waste collection hubs.

Didn't have a clue where to post this.
