There is an overrepresentation of flemish workers in these city offices or institutions because of the linguistic rules. Jobs requiring bilingual skills are often taken by flemish living outside Brussels. Everytime I went to Bozar, la Monnaie or Wiels I was talked in dutch at first place, but they switch to french if you talk french to them. I doubt that girl refused to talk french (a tourism office doesn't seem the right place for linguistic radicalism), and if she couldn't speak french then she just doesn't have anything to do there.

What's your suggestion? No more bilingual staff in Brussels?

Btw, how do you know they live outside Brussels? You know them all personally?

That would certainly lower the incredibly high unemployment rate within Brussels locals.

Just look around you in any Brussels station + that thing called "the elections" give a pretty good idea.

Once again i feel you ready to go full drama when someone is presenting you a fact or an opinion you don't agree with. Seems I can't even give my own impression about the city where I live 5 days a week (unlike you) to counterbalance a foreigner's opinion without encountering an ambush from the whole flemish protection squad.

You know what also would lower the high unemployment rate? These people learning Dutch.

As long as Belgium exists, Brussels will be a bilingual capital. Whether you like it or not. (well, not, obviously)

If you want Brussels to be French-speaking only, you'll have to ask for a separation of the country.

I said facts, these weren't either kind or mean. If you wanna talk about unfriendliness: you just mocked a tourist who went visiting Brussels because you didn't like what he has to say about.
