Documents filed with the city reveal that another tower is in the proposal phase along 57th Street. The future building, at 105 West 57th, will contain 51 floors and rise 671' high. Despite the building's height, there will only be 27 apartments! The building is likely to be extremely luxurious, and prices on the finished product are likely to be quite astronomical. 10,000 square feet of the building will also be dedicated to ground-floor retail, with any tenant likely to be quite high-end given the building's prime location.

Image source is a dead link. Yet another for 57th street, though!

Because I have seen skyscrapers in this stage of construction drag on for months with little progress. And furthermore: the rebar is for the slurry wall, I believe. Although that supports the foundation walls, it isn't actually part of the building's foundation. Second, is piling actually going on in the pit? I haven't seen any pictures of the bottom of the construction site to verify that. And finally a crane: that usually means construction, though not always, which is why I said only a shred premature. ;)
I'm as excited about this as you are, I just want to make sure it is actually u/c before celebrating.

I I've read that, but I don't think they are well informed... In such a huge city there must have been lots of taller free standing cranes, just in my little hometown of 60.000 inhabitants I have seen a crane of similar height, or even a bit taller for a 16 (+3 underground) floor hotel, it was fully erected when the construction was at foundation stage.
