Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester city council tells Labour conference that, "The debate should not be about devolving power to Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but devolving power within the nations."

Northern English councils demand more powers from Westminster

Debate has changed because of the referendum, thank you Alex.

Good movie, that Wrath of Khan. One of the better ones.

The NO vote was just a case of "Classic Conditioning". Their masters only have to turn up and go through the motions of opening the food cupboard and they once again salivate.

A unilateral declaration of independence would only happen after a second free and fair referendum's result would be ignored by Westminster. That's unlikely to happen though given that they would then be leaving their nuclear deterrent in a hostile foreign state.

The reason that the Yes side isn't going away is that the future of the Union is nowhere near as stable as it is being feted to be. If you look at the reasons people had for voting No you'll see that only a quarter had their attachment to the idea of Britain as their main justification. When a country is only held together by worry of what happens if it breaks apart, that never ends particularly well (see Yugoslavia). If the things people voted No in an attempt to save - the welfare state, their pensions etc - start to fall apart within the Union then it's not going to bode well for the future of it.

And Salmond has just warned Westminster they will face wrath greater than "the wrath of Khan" if devolution is not delivered.

More on that moron Jim Sillars' public meltdown:

Embarrassing.

I'm fed up with this media bias angle. Aside from some obvious daily mail type nonsense which any sensible adult will discount, most papers gave both sides a good hearing.

The burden of proof was on the SNP to convince the media that their idea was credible. They failed massively. Salmond's attitude towards some of the press corp was also a contributing factor.

Why should journalists roll over be tickled by YES when they were not given answers to basic and fundamental questions?

SNP membership up nearly 17,000 since Friday. That's more than the entire membership of the Scottish Labour Party in new members alone. They now have over triple the members of Scottish Labour, nearing quadruple. They now have nearly 20 times the membership of the Scottish Lib Dems, with the Green Party now having double the Scottish Lib Dems.
