York canyon road

Hi, I was wondering about the condition of the York Canyon Road aka CO Road 555 in northeastern New Mexico. It starts in Raton and I'm looking to see if I can drive it all the way through to Stonewall, Co without any problems.
Thanks in advance.

As beautiful as that drive is, I believe you'd go quite far just to be disappointed by a pavement dead-end at the entrance of a coal mine property. From there, there is a rail spur that runs for many miles to the south with an unimproved road alongside. West of the terminus of 555 lies the incredible Vermejo Ranch, one of the largest in the US and owned by Ted Turner. To the north is an incredible hike to Colorado.

Sorry its been nearly a year, but can you take a road through vermejo to get to stonewall?
I've looked on google maps, and there seems to be a road going through the ranch to stonewall.
