Gold Coast/Coolangatta Airport Review in Airliner World Magazine.

Checking out Airliner world Magazine's Website, the new September issue (which will be out October here due to shipping and so on) has a review on Coolangatta Airport, they Reviewed Brisbane late last year in October.
Airliner World is one of the top ten biggest Aviation Magazines in the World to date. So reviewing Coolangatta on a World Scale is a good thing.
Here's a sneak preview from www.airlinerworld.com

The airport of Coolangatta/Gold Coast is situated on the east coast of Australia some 50 miles (80km) south of Brisbane bordering the states of New South Wales and Queensland, and literally just a short walk from some of the whitest beaches of the area. The airport is in the heart of the popular tourist region attracting visitors not only from the rest of Australia, but also from New Zealand and countries in Asia – particularly Japan.

Thanks to the advent of low-cost air travel within the country (with double figure percentage passenger growth at the airport in the last two years), Coolangatta has become a major regional rival to the airport at Brisbane (see Airliner World March 2004), with operators such as Virgin Blue and Jetstar developing new services.

They need to improve the taxiway so that it serves the full length of the runway, allowing more arrivals and departures (so the heavy/jet aircraft can enter or clear the runway quicker). It should also get an ILS as well (an instrument landing system allowing arrivals in poor weather conditions).

Agreed. I cant belive they dont have ILS there. Gold Coast (OOL) is potentially another Fort Lauderdale (FLL). I wouldnt be surprised if OOL is handling 10 million+ passengers in 2020. Its a potential leisure hub and with the increase in population in the Gold Coast region also a potential population/business hub.
