This was an idiotic idea because smoke naturally spreads vertically, to the top.
This may be the reason why german engineering has problems actually. As Iīm an engineer we have been told, that the simple solution is always the best. Do nothing complicated as it is not necessary. Some dumb architects have dull ideas and you will find an expert telling that there is no problem to do this. I give you another example of stupid engineering:

They studied smoke-emission from the train-platform into the ticket-hall if a train catches fire. Normally you study this case with a numeric simulation and thatīs it. But wait, we are in Germany... we take into account that there are five tracks in the station and we say that on every track one train arrives into the station at the same time and one train is burning. Now you say this is not realistic, ok, but thatīs what they did. Surprise surprise... the system couldnt cope with this situation. I know this agency, doing the smoke-simulation, personally and believe me: As long as Iīm suitable for fire-protection in my company I will do everything, that they donīt put their feet into my business spreading their stuoid ideas. I know other well working companies which told me, that they really not wanted to work for BER. Itīs simply exaggerated in many ways.

Which also proves other Governments could manage it. To "be not willing" for a specialized private construction company usually means the offered price was not adequate. In this BER-case it actually wasn't. Those politicians dreamt of unrealistic prices.

What a joke. More realistically: 2019 - never.

Didn't expect doors to be such High-Tech products. Reminds me on German immigrant policy where politicians also weren't able to close doors

It's the Spot The Difference game.
