Has anyone seen "Tehran has no more pomegranates"? There is a lot of old footage of Tehran, worth watching.

Here is the opening part of the film:

Aria and Shahin were American made cars and they were called Ramblers in the US. Aria was the luxury model and Shahin was the basic model of the same car.
After they stopped making these cars, GM (Chevrolet) took over and Iran started making 3 models: Chevy Nova, Buick Skylark and Cadillac Seville.

Out of all countries, reflecting back on old Iran photos is probably one of the strangest experience of them all.

It always is.

And a new article claiming that Iran is America's stanchest ally in the middle east is another strange piece of history.

This picture thread is never really going to have a good conclusion; there will always be a bitter reflection on the present, but these memories must exist to show that the present wasn't how it's always been.

yes. still some of the old buildings of Tehran exist and you can go see them in the downtown tehran in areas like shahbaz, amirie, rey, lale zar and ... . sorry my age doesn't let me to know more and i'm not familiar with the downtown of Tehran but I think if you go to those areas you can still see the old architecture of Tehran.

Excellent pictures. I don't know if my percepction is wrong, but I can see that there was a great turkish culture influence during the beginning of the 20th century and a great western culture influence towards the end of the twentieth century era.

turkish culture itself really is part of the greater iranian culture. turkey has a culture i can say based very closely to iran and persian culture, afteralll they were part of iran for hundreds of years. so if they influence us its really our own culture coming back to us

and wetsrn culture has allways come across iran. since ancient greece and rome, we have both worked and learned from and taught the west together.
iran has a culture that is very open. we have a persian base but also put good things of other cultures into our own culture. that is the beauty of iran. but in terms of everyday life yes some western influence s have been put into iran over the 20th century but they arent really major issues. we eat more hamburgers now
