It really does seem like they're just opportunistically putting some apartments in given they're already building the carpark.

25 isn't a lot of apartments so its not like they have to find 200 people who want to buy an apartment there.

It's also very well located from a convenience perspective, right next to the new ACT gov offices and hotel. I also wouldn't be surprised if the owners of Customs House are looking at ways to activate their frontages now that this is going to become a more central area of Civic.

The porthole window design you can see on the perspective elevation reminds me of the touch switches in your phone settings... Bugs me a bit.

Also with the Capitol project, are they going to be demolishing the existing Hobart place block or renovating with an extension?

From seek.com.au, a few more stores that will be opening in Canberra Centre late October/early November: Robinsons Bookshop, Le Creuset, Gewürzhaus Herb and Spice Merchants, and... HAIGH'S CHOCOLATES!!

(Ok so the ad for positions at Haigh's doesn't actually say it'll be in Canberra Centre, but it seems likely.)

The old government flats site has a website, albeit a very boring one.

As I said, that part of Civic is dark and cold, especially in winter. And with the big job going up across at the Assembly, it'll all become a little cavernous

Morris have just posted a pic on Facebook of the view from their proposed 'Park Avenue' project. Looks like it's going to be a height limit resi tower on the Allara St side of the highgate precinct. Probably in place of the low rise office that has copy quik

That'll really make the site of that car park/resi proposal a dark and cold spot.

Morris have started consultation on park avenue (no designs I've seen) and they list it as 20 Alara St, which is the old office block next to highgate. Probably means either a resi conversion or knock down rebuild.

Geocon have also got some renders of Metropol in banner ads (but not on the website). Looks similar to the SHL site over Ainslie ave. 12-13 levels on the Ainslie/Cooyong corner, 7-8 levels along the rest of the Cooyong frontage.

Is this what the Founders Lane building will look like? I could not find any official photos, the website has nothing, only a link to register your interest.

That looks about right. The first design was a bit plainer. Good find.

Will make a great statement at this end of the city with Metropol opposite.

Will also become a very densly populated precinct once all is said and done. JWLand and Geocon are putting up around 1200 apartments across the sites.

I like the proper winter garden balconies. There's not enough of those in Canberra, which is surprising given the climate.

Scaffolding going up for The Capitol.

Also, DA has been submitted for the first stage of Lyneham on Northbourne. 8 levels, about 140 apartments.

DA in for the final stage of Campbell 5.

Somewhat bland quadrangle type design, but high quality. Main feature is an open ground level and large central water feature.
