New Bridges

The morning after, the winning political party has to sober up and take a look at all the promises they made. Does anyone have any pictures of the new bridges in the province? i.e. Port mann sibling, pitt river, okanagan, rav, etc?
pdf with info on pitt river bridge available in display board section of link below

It was from a recently released report on the RAV website.

This is the only pic I've ever seen of the Golden Ears Bridge - probably not final, but I don't think it's any more elaborate than this (i.e. not cable stayed, not suspension, etc.).

The RAV North Arm Bridge will probably be the nicest of the new bridges.

On a smaller scale, the City of Vancouver is looking at continuing the Central Valley greenway/bikeway west of Clark Drive (from Grandview Highway North) - it could launch off into a bridge or ramp down to the flats.

West of Clark Drive
Staff is still exploring options between Clark Drive and the False Creek flats. A consultant study is underway on the feasibility and cost of a bridge structure. This consultancy is also exploring the feasibility of a ramp option on the south side of the Grandview Cut. Staff will be reporting to Council on the results of this study.

I bet that new Fraser River crossing and the new Pit River Bridge will really change Maple Ridge and Langley in to much more urban suburbs.

^I don't think so. Wasn't the whole purpose of the new bridge to replace the outdated ones?

I think it's six lanes with space for LRT extension.

Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows is get 2 long over-due bridges. I think it's outragous that we still need to use the ferry system to get to Langley, and the Pitt River bridge is outdated, and a 6 lane bridge would help a lot.

The span will replace the two existing bridges - which I think are swing spans that open and close for river traffic.

YVR is planning to twin the Arthur Lang Bridge, the Airport Connector, and the Dinsmore Bridge. They also plan to build another airport connection to Vancouver, a tunnel.

Sorry to go off-topic, but what is happening now with that new Sea Island ferry terminal BC Ferries promised us?

I will stay on topic for now, but i am rather interested in that terminal...

the new pitt river bridge is 16m above the water (i think that's right), so there is no need for closures for marine traffic. hence, the two older bridges will be removed.
The bridge is 6 lanes wide. configurations being considered are 3 lanes each way, 2 westbound + 1 HOV/ 3 Eastbound, and 2/1 in both directions.... this bridge is also set up for the possibilities of adding one more lane in each direction in the future.... maybe if i get around to it i'll post a picture of the proposed interchange with the Mary Hill bypass.... what i really want though is a picture of the proposed cape horn replacement....!

mr.x, where did you find out about YVR's plans... are there any plans available? on their website?

That would be interesting to see, but it's probably far from being released from the preliminary design stages to the public. I wouldnt expect anything too splashy though, probably something similar to the 200th St Interchange.

Its feasable but its not going to happen. In the 80's they planed to build a highway downtown that would tunnel under the inlet to the north shore, which would have been a disaster. I find that transit to and from downtown - North Shore via Sea Bus is faster then driving over the bridges.
