Yes lol, meanwhile in Naples where they are building new Underground Station they are found artefacts from like 22AD lol.

When I temp moved to London a local council demolished a large hospital across the road from where I lived that was built in 1871. It was replaced by generic mid-rise apartments.

Before & after...


In saying that, I think part of the reason Australia lost so many buildings last century. Was because of that 'these buildings are not old by international standards and so hold no worth' mindset.

Plonk a building on top. A bit like SXS in Melbs as you pointed out to me. There is so little natural light making it down to platform level so it wouldn't make much of a difference in that respect.
