He's probably envisioning a Venice model, thats why 1000 cheirya veedukal. Instead model a Marine Drive at Kallai - towards the outward portion - the sea. Don't know what that area is called.

I am doubtful whether you have properly understood the report, The 1000 cheriya veedukal in the report is the estimated figure of present houses in the shore to be evicted.

The marine drive model you put forward is a good one if you can move the timber merchants stationed there to some suitable alternate locations...

It will be like Pierce Lesley Factory in Karaparamba. It was aproject in GIM. Ans Kunjappa was talking about a satalite township there. with lot of jobs. now you see Ahmedka is building Keralas tallest building there

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be in the city to flag off two major projects that will coincide with the United Democratic Front (UDF) government’s second anniversary celebrations on Sunday.

The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for a fish landing centre at Vellayil at 5 p.m.

Keys to be given away

An hour later, he would distribute keys constructed in Santhi Nagar as part of the first phase of the model village programme which was included in the Chief Minister’s 100-day action plan.

Mr. Chandy had laid the stone for a housing project in Santhi Nagar a year ago. Finance Minister K.M. Mani will preside over the house-key distribution function. The first phase of the housing scheme envisages construction of 211 houses at a cost of Rs.15 crore. In the second phase, 115 houses, walkways, waste disposal system, three anganwadis, and a primary health centre will come up.

An amount of Rs.23 crore will be needed to complete the facilities envisaged under second phase of the Santhi Nagar project.

Minister for Fisheries K. Babu will preside over the function in which the Chief Minister would lay the foundation for the fish landing centre at Vellayil — a project being established at a cost of Rs.39.3 crore.

As much as 75 per cent of the project cost will be borne by the Central government and the rest by the State government. Besides wharf and auction centre, the fish landing centre will also have office space, navigation lane, waste disposal system, workshop, and a green belt.
