Thats common in countries with a high temp and few rains like Portugal, Spain, Italy, Middle-East and South American Countries.
Here in Brazil we dont hang clothes in the facade, but we hang in the backyard. |

Actually here in Rome when the weather is sunny we usually hang the clothes on clothes dryer racks put in the balconies, making them much less visibile from the street (often not visible at all). However there are also many people who hang them in a room inside the house. They are hung directly on facades only in some poorer neighbourhoods, but that's rare here and it grows rarer and rarer by latitude.
Hanging them on facades is common practice in the southernmost regions, like Campania or Calabria. |

Nope, but here is what you can see: as many people getting murdered in FL as in Italy and Spain combined, even though those two countries have 5x the population of FL. But I guess they have a third world mentality because of the way they dry their clothes... oh the horror!

Quote:
Hanging clothes outside is common in Southern Europe because of the milder climate. In Northern Italy we never hang out clothes from November to March but in spring, summer and the beginning of autumn when there are warm days we always hang'em out. And I don't think Milan, Venice, Turin, Genoa, Bologna or Florence are third world cities. Obviously people here hang clothes in a less visible balcony (usually the bedrooms ones).

In the condo i stay in as well as most condos down here, it is not allowed as each condo in SG have bylaws. However, it is still a pretty common sight in Singapore
