Work is due to start in the period January-March 2013.

Hurry up and built it! You might be thinking of trips home, but I can't wait for a road that gets me out of Nottingham as fast as possible...

I'd like to see a masterplan for the whole M1/A50/A6/A453 nexus, so that all journeys are improved. Unfortunately this would probably involve a second Spaghetti Junction, that would cause problems for East Midlands Airport.

This was planned as part of the previously proposed M1 21-30 widening before it was scrapped in favor of managed motorway.

Contract 1 (25-28 just made it through in time).

There were even greater plans proposed in 1994 - with virtually all movements free-flow. I'll see if I can find it...

My plans would be even grander:

From M1 Northbound:
- A453 NE to Nottingham
- A50 E to Grantham/A1
- A6 SE to Kegworth/Leicester
- A453 SW to Donington
- A50 W to Stoke/M6
- A6 NW to Derby

From M1 Southbound:
- A50 E to Grantham/A1, connecting to A453 to Nottingham
- A6 SE to Kegworth/Leicester
- M42 SW to Birmingham
- A453 SW to Donington
- A50 W to Stoke/M6, connecting to A6 to Derby

One can dream...

Small update:

http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Pr...ail/story.html

tl;dr: Ecological work underway, Archaeological surveys and installing fencing about to begin.

In Autumn more fencing and tree/hedge removal will commence.

Sometime in 2013: Road expansion.
