I will be present at the event! I will take enough photos. I live a stone through away from the stadium

One of the best initiatives of this effort, is that social groups (neighborhood, church, school etc) can plant trees, and they'll receive a corresponding number of FREE tickets...

Whoever designed those African masks into the niches is a genius. Not sure you can find another stadium with similar artwork.

They should put LED different color lights on them and accentuate them.

This is actually the last IAAF U18 Competition and it's a great honor we're hosting it. And we must demand in the future we host more events like the Commonwealth Games or East African Games...

The first few pictures show turnout is nothing to write home about :-(
But I am sure there are many reasons to explain the turnout. Middle of the week, first day, time of day, under 18 the list goes on......

I think the poor turnout is coz it's a working day so most of the people who came are students. I don't think people are taking days off for this. Plus the stadium is on Thika road and it's far from town so that's also a factor.

Usually in competitions even in other countries, the turnout for the qualification events is not usually high... Wait till the main events start taking place. If the turnout still isn't great then we have a problem.

For one thing, the govt. can bus school age kids and fill this stadium up easily. Plus it will have the added benefit of giving the young ones some inspiration if they see the competition up close.

How is the marketing for this event coming along in Kenya.. are there flyers, adverts, billboards everywhere???
