Malaysia's Largest Mobile Lifestyle Event In October
July 29, 2009 23:03 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's largest mobile lifestyle event, GoMobile 2009, will be held in October to provide visitors the experience of mobile broadband.

This year's theme is "We Are The Mobile Generation".

The main organiser, CommTechAsia Sdn Bhd, said the GoMobile Expo would be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 23 to 25, the GoMobile Conference at Istana Hotel on Oct 20 and the Mobile World Star Awards and Gala Dinner on Oct 21 at the same hotel.

This year's expo was expected to attract 100,000 visitors compared with almost 60,000 last year, it said.

"Not only the visitors will enjoy great bargains and offers of handsets, accessories and packages, GoMobile will also feature daily mobile lifestyle fashion shows and appearances by music artistes," CommTechAsia director Kashminder Singh told a press conference here Wednesday.

"We hope that through this showcase of mobile lifestyle in action, more Malaysians will embrace these mobile broadband technologies and help the nation achieve its target of 50 percent broadband household penetration by 2010," he said.

Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) vice president Kamil Othman said the launch of GoMobile was timely as the demand for mobile broadband was increasing.

"The industry players have projected that demand for mobile content will grow at a value of RM1.5 billion," he said.

MDeC is GoMobile 2009 strategic partner while Maxis is Pinnacle Sponsor, Yellow Pages Malaysia is Diamond Sponsor and Ericsson is Gold Sponsor.

"Kemenangan besar KLCC membuktikan falsafah pasukan kami: Berlatih, Berlatih, Berlatih.

60,000 dijangka kunjungi pesta perabot, hiasan

Convention centre bags new award

THE Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre was the recipient of the ‘Prominent Company’ Award at the inaugural Malaysia Independence Award 1957 for its role in contributing towards building the country’s reputation as a preferred destination for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events.

The awards was organised by the Selangor Petaling Business & Industry Association and it recognised the contribution and achievement of Malaysian companies in nation building.

The centre’s general manager Peter Brokenshire said it was truly a great honour.

“We endeavour to promote Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and the centre in the global conventions and exhibitions arena,” he said.

Well done: Brokenshire (right) receiving the inaugural Malaysia Independence Award 1957 from Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Wira Chor Chee Heong. Looking on is Selangor Petaling Business & Industry Association president Choong Yew Lim.

Brokenshire also attributed the success of the centre to the support of its partners in Team Malaysia; Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL).

“This cohesive alliance of key tourism industry players lends credibility to the successful execution of internationally-led events and peace of mind for event organisers based outside Malaysia,” he said.

“By working together, we have been able to demonstrate that all bids for international events showcase Malaysian hospitality, quality, efficient service delivery and cultural exposure.”

KLCC extends MICE programmes
July/August 2009

MICE planners enthused about Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)’s We have a deal for you campaign can look forward to two new components – the Conventions Value-Add programme and the exhibitions loyalty programme.

The centre is offering the Conventions Value-Add programme, worth an estimated RM60,000 (US$17,175), for all international association meetings held at the centre. This includes hosting of site inspections, a cultural showcase of six Malaysian arts and crafts, pre-function meetings plus a cocktail reception or a press conference hosted by the centre.

As an incentive for exhibition organisers, the centre has also introduced the Exhibitions Loyalty programme, worth an average of RM50,000. In addition to the five per cent loyalty reward based on venue hire for a subsequent show, organisers will also enjoy the use of a complimentary press room, a VIP lounge, organiser’s office, venue for a pre-function event, a coffee machine and 400 cups of coffee plus an exhibitor briefing hosted by the centre and 50 per cent discount off the venue’s rack rates for move in/move out days.

The We have a deal for you campaign was launched in November last year with two components – TenOnCall that offers 10 meeting room spaces and a free flow of f&b, and the rewards programme for banqueting events that offers clients points calculated on 10 per cent of the total f&b cost.

The campaign runs up to June 2010.
