If you are a real member of staff answer me the following-

-Why did you think you could possibly get away with such ground breaking pathetic treatment of local and foreign fans especially when everyone has a mobile phone and the eyes of the world were on Qatar?(actually there were many more people watching the Australian Open at the time because it was in primetime to Asia)
-Why do you think that a ticket refund will square the ledger when people will never, ever go to Qatar with any confidence again whether it be WCQ's or the 2022 WC?The tickets are about 2% of the cost that some folks outlayed for that match
-Why did you blame foreigners for getting to the stadium only an hour and a half before the match-this IS FOOTBALL CULTURE.If I have a ticket-I OWN THAT SEAT for that match-not you or anyone else.Regardless of security for your Royals I have the right to wait it out and get MY SEAT eventually
-Why did you confront thousands of legitimate ticket holders with riot police when all they had ever done is support the Asian Cup?
-Why did you think you could get away with giving thousands of $8 to Indians to wear a dishdash to pretend that more Qatari's were present at the matches?
-Why did you announce that attendance figure when the crowd were NOT counted, and even if 37k were there why weren't some of the 10,000 outside let in to reach the 40k capacity?Even if you cut the capacity of the media area you could have fitted nearly everyone in.??
-By far the biggest risk to your Royals was NON PAYING attendees because you had ZERO identification. Why would you let many thousands of these poor hard working people from the labour camps in if it was to compromise security??
-What gave you the right to lock everyone in to the stadium for an hour when people had planes to catch??The was an incredibly unsafe situation(Hillsborough anyone) ,just for the vanity of the Qatari Royals
-Why did you continue to play semi's and the final SO FRIGGING LATE into Asia after all ME teams were predictably eliminated??

_X_ it time you accept that 2022 will definity go Qatar. Just stop critism the qatar. let them learn their mistake. I'm sure Qatar will be successfully like South Africa
-------------------------------------------------------
London – The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played in the summer as originally planned and will not be co-hosted with neighbouring countries, Fifa president Sepp Blatter said.

Blatter, reiterating comments made by soccer's governing body two weeks ago, said there were no plans to stage a winter World Cup and any request to do so would have to come from the Qatari hosts who have already said they plan to stage the event in summer.

“Everything is settled now for summer and with all 64 matches in the territory of Qatar,” he told the BBC in an interview.

“In the bidding documents it was clearly established that the executive committee reserved the right to change anything in the bidding process, but here in this case it must come from Qatar.

“Qatar has not moved for the time being. I think for the time being this matter is on ice because we have just signed in the last days the final documents.”

Qatar were chosen as hosts in December, winning a contest also featuring Australia, Japan, South Korea and United States.

Their bid was based on a summer World Cup using air-conditioned stadiums to combat the desert heat.

Despite this, there has been wide support for a winter World Cup with Franz Beckenbauer and Uefa president Michel Platini backing a January-February tournament.

Platini also suggested a “World Cup in the Gulf” with Qatar sharing matches with neighbouring countries.

Blatter denied supporting a winter tournament himself and said he was impartial, although he feared a winter tournament could clash with that year's Winter Olympics.

“I'm not in favour of one or the other although January and February would be in conflict with the IOC (International Olympic Committee) of which I'm a member.

“Who said first we should play in winter? It was Franz Beckenbauer, secondly Michel Platini, thirdly it was the professional players' union, FifPro.” – Reuters

To be fair to X, his last post was focused on the Asian Cup and not 2022.

It is a fair point he raises. If I spent $1000 on flights, and a few hundred dollars on a hotel for the night, I'm hardly going to be doing cartwheels about getting an $8 refund

_X_ is just feeling the frustrations that we are all feeling. It is bad enough that Qatar is getting the Cup instead of Australia or the U.S., but what really sucks is that they may do a real crappy job of hosting it also. It is one thing to get beat by someone who really knows how to pull off a show, it is another thing to get beat by someone who couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag. Hosting the World Cup is a logistics and management nightmare and the Qataris are just not up to the task, at least not right now. If we are lucky, they will take some of their oil/gas billions and hire a bunch of German or English consultants to come in and manage the whole operation. The Qataris should just sit back and let someone who knows what they are doing run the show. They can still bask in their international glory, but hopefully they will just get out of the way. At least we should have a really good time in Brasil.

For the first time-cold hard facts about the absolute minuscule size of Qatar and the Qatari population-6% of the adult population are Qatari.Just 70,873 (45410 male,25463 female)Qatari's are in the workforce.
http://www.qix.gov.qa/discoverer/app...bject_area=183
This is why they have to manipulate the system by having such a massive nationalising factory at Aspire for athletes to play at tournaments like the Asian Cup 2011.This is why they have to bus thousands of migrants in from the labour camps, this is why they have to pay migrants to look like Qatari's at a match, this is why they let 10,000 plus migrant workers into the final without tickets(with the promise of food)
Capacity at Khalifi was 40k-this is equivalent to 56.43% of all working Qatari nationals.
This is why they keep banging on about going to more than 1 match per day.Why would a country try to cater for 1 to 3 million foreigners at a World Cup if they can get the same 120,000 going to all the matches-it means they can go exclusively 5 star with far less hotels, and far less services such as transport ,hospitals, police etc.
Qatar got 7,000 visitors to the Asian Cup-this was a comfortable figure for them to host, not the gigantic circus that is the WC

You do realise it was a tactical elimination to remove one of the biggest threats to the Qatari bid, by the make up of the Excom, Australia was more vulnerable than the USA so was isolated first. These vote's aren't an honest assessment of the ability of the host. Do you really think England was the worst and least capable of the 2018 vote?
Of course not, they were the equal best. Both England and Australia were devastatingly out maneuvered because of their bid strength but exposable weakness going into the vote. England with its intolerable transparency for FIFA (same as the Neatherlands) as opposed to their main rival and Australia because of it's lack of Excom member (Unlike the USA) and proxy member being bought off.

Finally, FIFA (& Sepp) admit that Qatar, and Spain (almost) CHEATED to win the rights to host the World Cup.

Quote:
Fifa president Sepp Blatter admits Spanish and Qatar World Cup bid teams did trade votes
By Paul Kelso 11:00PM GMT 07 Feb 2011

Fifa President Sepp Blatter has confirmed that the Qatar and Spain-Portugal World Cup bids colluded to trade votes in the contest for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.

Telegraph Sport first disclosed allegations of collusion between the two bids in September last year but they were denied by both bids. A subsequent investigation by Fifa’s ethics committee said that there was insufficient evidence to take any action.

On Monday, however, Blatter told the BBC that the two bids had colluded, though he insisted it had made no difference to the final outcome, which saw Russia and Qatar win the 2018 and 2022 tournaments respectively.

“I’ll be honest, there was a bundle of votes between Spain and Qatar,” Blatter said. “But it was a nonsense. It was there but it didn’t work, not for one and not for the other side.”

Blatter’s admission is the first time that a senior Fifa executive has conceded what was an open secret in the latter stages of the bid, and his insistence that it did not impact the outcome will be challenged by those in losing bids, particularly in the 2022 race. The deal between Qatar and the Iberian bid was thought to be worth seven votes, which was exactly how many Spain-Portugal received in both rounds of the 2018 voting.

If, as Blatter claimed yesterday, Qatar received the same seven votes, it provided more than half of the 12 they required to win.

The Telegraph

Paul Kelso is one of my favourite journo's.

Blatter has other interests now with a challenge to his Presidency imminent he will now try and paint MbH as a bad guy and won't mind telling the truth for a change to meet his objectives.
I'm surprised he hasn't commented on "crowdgate" yet to score a few points

Perhaps, though immediately placing 7 of the Ex-Co member offside probably isn't the way to win another term as President. Perhaps he senses his time is up and is airing some dirty laundry.

You could be right but I don't think he ever had those 7 votes if it came to an election

Summing up his experience at the Asian Cup 2011 regarding the other event is this very short but brilliant summary from probably Australia's most respected sports journalist and definitely one of the pre eminent match commentators

Gerrard Whately on the public broadcaster ABC
Qatar not ready to host
