New direct flights between Hurghada, German cities
Quote:

Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said on Tuesday that Air Cairo will launch new direct flights to a number of German cities.

In total, there will be seven weekly flights from Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hanover to Hurghada via Airbus A320.

The ministry is adopting new strategies to encourage Egyptian airlines to operate flights to tourist cities in order to give a boost to the tourism industry.

"The ministry relies on these regular flights in order to bring back German tourists to Egypt, given that the German market is very important for Egyptian tourism," Kamal added.

Meanwhile, Yasser al-Ramly, chief of Air Cairo, said the flights will be start operating on 3 May.

The company will operate three regular flights per week from Düsseldorf, two flights from Suttgart and two from Hanover, in order to promote direct traffic between Germany and Hurghada, the main Egyptian tourist destination for German tourists.

Ramly added that the new measure is a leap in tourism promotion for Egypt.

Airport security chase Chinese passenger on runway

Airport security on Monday chased on the runway a Chinese passenger that was allegedly mentally ill.

The passenger had arrived in Cairo via Turkish Airlines from Istanbul after the Turkish authorities denied him entry for not having a visa.

As the plane landed at Cairo Airport, he ran onto the runway instead of going to the arrival hall.

Because in this company, part of the crew are from Morocco and flights to Morocco announcements are said in Arabic.

I wanted to know if it was the same as for flights to Egypt.

Yeah, they definitely do but our aviation industry is modeled to serve Egypt's tourism industry. That means it specifically targets countries that are the largest contributors of tourists to Egypt, countries with large Egyptian emigrant populations etc. It's all about economic viability.

But not just that, a big part of EgyptAir's strategy is to establish itself as a carrier to African destinations from Europe, N. America, Asia etc. with Cairo as a transit gateway.

That's why they've expanded African destinations in recent years.

Yea, it also comes down to how much open and regulated skies are in Africa. We have to at least establish the 3rd freedom with every African country we fly to. So it kind of goes both ways.

Egyptair served Harare and Lusaka, but the airline suspended flights. I guess that Kenya Airways & Emirates are strong. It's probably better for the airline to use South African Airways and Ethiopian.

Egyptair opened service to Chad, this year and it seems that the airline plans to serve Djibouti, Senegal and Rwanda (served in code share with Ethiopian Airlines, there is also on office in Rwanda, but address is located in Ethiopia). Some articles about this, but no dates given. Anyone has more infos ? Thanks

Egyptair has also expended code share to Burundi (flights operated by Ethiopian)
