Indonesian Skies Set to Get More Crowded

Indonesia may see two newcomers in the full-service airline industry next year and another airline upgrading to the semi-full service class, the Transportation Ministry said on Wednesday.

Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan said the newcomers were Pacific Royale Airways Indonesia and Lion Air’s Space Jet, with Sriwijaya Air upgrading to semi-full service.

Sriwijaya Air is currently categorized as a “medium service airline,” only serving light snacks during its flights. The designation refers to the variety services offered on board, such as meals and baggage allowance and in-flight entertainment.

Indonesia keeps export taxes on palm oil, cocoa steady for January
2011-12-22
Quote:
The Indonesian government has decided to keep export taxes for palm oil and cocoa unchanged for January, senior official said here on Thursday.

"The export tax for palm oil next month is still at 15 percent and cocoa remains at 5 percent," Director General for International Trade Deddy Saleh said at Trade Ministry.

The trade ministry and industry ministry jointly decided the export tariff of palm oil for the following month by using the average prices of the commodity in Rotterdam in the preceding month as reference price. The export tax is aimed at securing domestic supply, stabilizing cooking oil prices and boosting downstream industry.

Indonesia's ICDX tin contract on track for Jan launch
Thu Dec 22, 2011
Quote:
The ICDX has announced a series of new contracts over the last month, including rubber, palm olein and tin, with the physical tin contract due to launch on Jan. 12. Members of the Indonesia Tin Association (ITA), an industry group of 28 smelters in the world's top refined tin exporter, was due to provide tin for the ICDX contract, but has been hit by a series of public spats since a self-imposed shipping ban broke down earlier this month.

"The contract specs are put in place to guarantee uniformity and quality standards that meet buyers' expectations."

"This market is open for all -- as long as the quality of the tin meet the standards required."

A week ago, PT Timah, the world's largest integrated tin miner, backed the new ICDX contracts. Indonesia, the world's second biggest tin producer after China, also plans to start a futures tin contract next year. Tin producers in the archipelago of 17,000 islands are looking to have a greater say on global prices for the base metal.

Indonesia's chocoholics lead an Asian quality wave
Thursday, December 22, 2011
Quote:
ARRIVING in Indonesia just a little over a decade ago, Belgium chocolatier Thierry Detournay was dismayed at the lack of quality chocolate on offer in the world's third-largest cocoa producer. But now, less than seven years after launch, his luxury Chocolate Monggo bars can be found in many of the gigantic and glitzy malls of downtown Jakarta.

As Southeast Asia's largest economy goes from strength to strength highlighted by a return to investment-grade status by Fitch Ratings this month Indonesia's Willy Wonka is one of many tapping into a growing Asian market for luxury chocolate.

"When I started to make chocolate in Indonesia, I realised there was no good chocolate," said Detournay, who began by converting a pink Vespa into a stall and selling home-made chocolate goodies at local markets. Yogyakarta-based Chocolate Monggo now employs 50 people on the production side, sources cocoa beans from Javanese, Sumatran and Celebes plantations, and churns out as many as 75,000 chocolate bars per month.

The growing taste for high quality chocolate in emerging markets especially in Asia will help boost global chocolate sales 2 per cent to US$81.8b in 2011, according to Mintel. Chocolate sale in China are forecast to rise 19 per cent to US$1.2b this year, and in India by 7 per cent to US$633m, with Indonesian sales likely to jump 25 percent to US$1.1b, data from the market research firm showed.

Pakistan Exporters seek early FTA with Indonesia
22/12/2011
Quote:
Fruit exporters have urged the commerce minister to sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Indonesia before next month to avail the duty relaxation under the agreement by January 2012.

If the FTA is signed with Indonesia in the current month, the implementation of import duty would be applicable from January 2012, and if it is signed after December, the implementation would be from January 2013, thus causing a delay of one year.

The Pakistan-Indonesia FTA was signed at the secretary-level on October 16 in Jakarta, but it is yet to be signed by the commerce ministers. The zero-rated duty regime could be established after the signing procedure.

Indonesia orders 3 submarines in regional 'catch-up'
Quote:
Indonesia's signing of a contract to procure three submarines from a South Korean company is an effort to keep pace with other countries in the region. The order will more than double Indonesia's existing fleet of two submarines; the KRI Cakra and KRI Nenggala.

Andi Widjajanto from the University of Indonesia, told the The Jakarta Post that ordering three submarines was not enough as the 2024 Defense Strategic Plan required 10 submarines as the minimum essential force.

"Actually it is rather late because other countries in the region have received or are already building new submarines," he said over the phone.

"So far Indonesia's move is more to catch up with developments rather than to match them."

Gov’t Prepares US$ 4.4 Bln for Underlying Sukuk
Thursday, 22 12 2011
Quote:
The government is preparing underlying asset of Rp 40 trillion (US$ 4.4 billion) to issue sukuk next year. Rahmat Waluyanto, Director General of Debt Management at the Finance Ministry, said that the government should issue more investment instruments with underlying projects so that the financing can become cheaper. This should be done since the current yield is low due to the rising of Indonesia’s debt rating to investment grade.

Rahmat said that even though the government owns underlying project of Rp 40 trillion, the government might not use all of it since it will depend on the preparation of each of the projects that will be turned into an underlying. The government is also preparing sukuk that are based on project financing. The issuance of project financing sukuk will be conducted next year. The government is processing the regulations that are related to sukuk based on project financing.

After the raising of Indonesia’s debt rating to investment grade (Fitch Ratings), the government will also try to issue long term investment instruments. This will extend the debt portfolio period and will reduce the risk of refinancing and long term funding.

PT FKS Multi Agro Tbk (FISH) is targeting revenue in 2012 to rise by 33.3 percent (year-on-year), to Rp 10 trillion (US$ 1.1 billion), from projected revenue of Rp 7.5 trillion this year. In 2012, the company plans to add two soybean production lines, to support the growing demand for soybean downstream industries.

Anand Kishore Bapat, Director of FKS Multi Agro, said the company is also targeting next year’s net profit to reach Rp 100 billion. "Next year, we are targeting the net income of one percent of sales," he explained.

@mehome,

(IMHO)

btw 4L ntu apa yaa??

Indonesia’s Economic Resilience ‘Credit Positive,’ Moody’s Says
Dec 23, 2011 5:47 PM
Quote:
Christian de Guzman, assistant vice president at Moody’s Investors Service in Singapore, comments on Indonesia’s potential for a credit rating upgrade.

De Guzman commented in an e-mail Dec. 22.
On a possible upgrade:

“We have noted the macroeconomic resilience of the country and believe that it is credit positive and would support the case for an upgrade.

“The shallow depth of capital markets, governance, and the prospects for infrastructure development continue to be concerns that we continue to monitor in Indonesia.”

On Indonesia versus Philippines:
Indonesia has established a longer track record of prudent fiscal management, with average deficits from 2001 to 2010 at just over 1 percent of GDP, as compared to over 3 percent of GDP for the Philippines over the same period. This is also reflected in Indonesia’s much lower debt burden as a share of GDP.

“However, the Philippines’ healthier external surpluses over the past few years, among others, has led to deeper capital markets which has allowed for a more stable source of local financing for the Philippine government.

“Nevertheless, Indonesia’s growth has proven to be more resilient to external shocks than the Philippines.”

Indonesia plans coal, base metals export tax in 2012
Fri Dec 23, 2011
Quote:
Indonesia, a major global producer of raw materials, will look to introduce export taxes for coal and base metals next year, as it tries to encourage more investment in its mining sector, a government minister said on Friday.

Last week, Southeast Asia's largest economy, which is the world's top exporter of thermal coal, the globe's second largest nickel producer and home to the world's second largest copper mine, said new financial policies for commodities were in the offing but gave few details.

"We are preparing the concept of export tax on mineral products as a supporting policy for encouraging base metal and coal downstream industry development," Industry Minister Mohamad Hidayat told Reuters on Friday.

Just my opinion Mehome,

Kalau masalah tujuan eksport we do really well.

Anggapan saya kalau eksport orinted jadi kita dapat cash flow in.

Kalau masalah SDA, saya lebih baik di simpan dulu sebelum benar2 dunia kehabisan, dgn begitu you got the highest rupiah.
