Yes, focus should be given to Industries other then IT. Every on talks about how HCL, DLF etc are not serious but how about other manufacturing companies who are allocated land in MIHAN and haven't done anything?
For ex. Haldiram, they have small plot in MIHAN and are not affected by global slowdown...

MIHAN betting on IT industry ????

Is MIHAN really betting on these IT companies ? Indian IT companies apart from generating revenue for themselves do not generate anything when compared to other traditional industries like manufacturing (may that be pharma or food industry).

I have seen Indians very much glamored around these IT companies...do they really know what these companies do and how they operate ??

Here is one snippet from one of successful entrepreneur (oh, yes, from your own country) Sabeer Bhatia:

What he says equates very closely to medieval type slavery....hmmmm.....I doubt the so called big IT companies coming to MIHAN will ever start their full operation there......or in fact they will start anything at all at MIHAN.....

KOLKATA: India has done a great job of developing the IT services business, but it has failed in world class product development for the software industry, says Sabeer Bhatia, the founder of Hotmail.com.

"While India has done a great job of developing the services business, in reality we have completely failed in product development. There is no product that is developed in India for the world market. And that is where all the opportunities are," Bhatia said at an interactive session organised by TiE Kolkata Monday evening.

He said companies like Infosys, Wipro and TCS were providing tremendous employment in India, but their operating mode was "hire people at a certain price and sell their services at a much higher price elsewhere - in the US or the UK or Middle East".

Ref : India lacks product development for software: Sabeer Bhatia

Yes, Indian IT companies do not work on there own products. One reason i found is lack of capability for innovation and design. Like great building needs good design before any one can work on.

That said, i know Infosys has their own Banking product which is used by Hdfc and other banks.

Product based companies are doomed in India some what due to Indian culture. No one would want to sell their business even if that means further expansion. For eg small shops in India dont sell of franchise bcos it will mean selling part of their business. I know from fact that when initially CDAC, govt agency, developed Hindi capability for DOS based computers, both Microsoft and Oracle wanted to buy technology from them. But they refused on the ground that they will develop it further themselves. Result: it took Oracle and Microsoft 10 more years to add Indic fonts to their products and CDAC couldn't develop product anyway. Sharing or selling product could have been beneficial for general public which had to wait so long to get regional lang support on computers.

Shabir bhatiya got famous just bcos microsoft paid him unbelievable amount of money. His other two ventures flopped. Latest being SabaseBolo.

Infy Wipro or TCS are doing what we Indians are best at. Doing manual labour. Our education system doesn't teach us how to be Innovative. Mugging up is all we learn.

Maruti stockyard status?

There are few job openings for warehouse/export management for Nagpur location on “Naukri” posted on 7 May. They have mentioned that it is for "India's No. 1 Automotive passanger Car manufacturing organization... for their Spare Parts - Warehouse Division based at Nagpur." My question is; is it for the upcoming stockyard of Maruti at Butibori? Is it really coming, whereas I have heard they have been moved to some other location… Then what is it?

Went to Mihan on 1st May. Sad to say that nothing has yet started at TCS site...no activity at other sites too. May be new ones will start construction only after summer. It is very difficult to work in that heat.

Only two active sites were of Boeing and Mahindra Bloomdale.. will post pics.

there is little more work done on top floors.. but is negligible..

I am not sure about First City. Have they resumed their work? If yes, it is a good news as it was suspended for almost four years now.
First City work was not suspended for four years.. it was halted when that "residential units in SEZ" issue came up.. but it restarted soon. check old pics in this thread.. work has progressed a lot. in July 2010 update, there was just one building. Now two have topped out and construction is going on on two other. but now it is extremely slow. (partially due to summer)

Thanks Grapewine for pic updates.

if SP infocity is almost complete I assume either TCS or someone else might be in line to rent out the premises until their own construction finishes (..start and then finishes) Otherwise there was no point in putting on finishing touch to building if it is there to gather dust

possible..

Btw I also saw small advertisements of Lupin on light poles near Central Facility Building. No sign of Infosys yet though.

Found one good render of Moraj Project on www.99acres.com here:

Grapevine,
The images you have posted are not visible in most browsers.
Can you rectify this.

I don't know what's wrong. Images didn't load first time for me too. Just refreshed and it worked. Might be some temporary problem with SSC/imageshack.. not sure.

Can you give the links instead.
Keen to seen the recent development in MIHAN.
BTW you might be interested in this news as well.

Satyam apparently are renewing their interest in SEZ and are beginning by constructing a boundary wall!!!!!
