Salam Cyaxares.

Although a beautiful concept, surely the maintenance of such a large park would become a problem?

In Erbil, it's a different story. Erbil is located in a an arid region, but they've managed to maintain several large parks for I believe a decade now. So it should be no problem in Silemani (the two cities, although only 2 hours apart from each other, are the complete opposite of each other in terms of nature/weather. In Silemani, for example, it can snow up to several meters around the mountains during a rough winter).

(However, the Erbil parks I can not really recommend... They have become commercial places instead of parks. A LOT of business going on there, which isn't really what a park should be like... I hope Silemani municipality doesn't make the same mistake).
Oh I remember Sami Abdul Rahman Park. I mostly used the running tracks and I went studying there. There were huge insects and 1/4 of the Park is full of Bangal people

Yep it's safe. If you're European or North American you're allowed to stay 15days in KRG without visa, if I remember right.

All of Iraq is safe except central Iraq and Mosul. The South is the safest and has the best to offer but KRG is better prepared for tourism.
The nice thing is if you go to Iraq you can brag about going to a war zone .

What Hassain said . The KRG has focused on tourism a lot, so there are a few nice places (historic or natural) you can visit. Erbil's ancient citadel (oldest continiously inhabited city on earth) is probably the "crown jewel". However, there are much more nicer historic places in Kurdistan and Iraq, but you can't visit those unfortunately

I hope in 50 years (optimistic) the region will be "revived" again with the historic places restored to their former glory .

Do you live in Slemani Cyaxares? Your English is quite good for a Kurd living in KRG.

I live there sometimes, but not permanently. Currently not in Silemani, I was there a few months ago for 7 months .

A lot of Kurds in KRG are going to the new/better universities these days. There's a huge "American University" in Silemani, so young Kurds from Silemani are quite good at English these days (I believe there's also an American uni in Duhok, on top of the many private schools). I believe they even started teaching kids in elementary school in English 6 years ago or something (basic stuff, but better than nothing I guess )

Aha cool. I was born in Slemani. Some of my relatives are at AUIS and the university is quite good from what I have seen. However, with the English skills of the students it's really hit/miss. Sometimes you meet students speaking English fluently with an American accent, but you'll also find people who struggle saying a couple sentences grammatically correct.
